Don’t get anything more than level 3 hot! One of the best curries I had in Tokyo! It’s a fusion of Indian spices and Japanese curry. I had the whole bowl!

Came across this place on Unilocal and it wasn’t too far from where we were staying so we decided to try it out. We tried the tomato based, soy and original curry. My favorites are the tomato and soy. Like most reviews, the curry is brothy and very flavorful. The rice with crispy onion topping is very good and is perfect with the curry.

First night in Japan we wanted something close to our hotel. So glad we found this place, it was amazing. The restaurant is upstairs and is very small inside, but in a cozy place! We ordered off the menu immediately. You choose soup base, meat, spice and extras. I chose level 3 and that was perfect spice level heat for me, just enough to get the zing, but still taste the flavor of soup. Price was cheap, less than 600 yen. Waiter was extremely nice, which is always a plus to me :) We will definitely be coming back here before we depart.

The best part of traveling is coming across a random restaurant with locals queuing up for lunch and leaving like you found something special, Sapporo Dominica was one of those places for us. This was the first restaurant my wife and I stumbled across during our trip to Japan in early April 2016 and while I have no idea what this establishment has to do with either Sapporo or Dominica, the curry soup they make is not like anything I have had before and we are from a part of West Los Angeles that was recently rebranded«Japan Town» so we know a thing or two when it comes to Japanese cuisine. We stopped by for an early lunch around 11 am and there were already a dozen would be patrons who were desperate enough to eat here that they were willing to line up in a very narrow staircase that was steeper than certainly anything allowed by code back home. The menu is small but requires you to choose from a few options in four categories: soup base, protein, level of spice, and extra toppings. Apparently, Monday is free extra topping day which was a nice treat. We ordered the signature soup base, one with chicken the other with pork, level 3 spice, and fried cheese and fatty pork as our additional toppings. If you like spicy food, definitely go higher than level 3. The signature curry soup is hard to describe, it is definitely curry, but not just a watered down curry, it is a more like a very flavorful soup, but without being too oily. The pork was just the right ratio of fat to meat and cooked perfectly, it literally melted in my mouth. The chicken was also quite good as were the veggies which were clearly local/seasonal. The restaurant is tiny, just a bar area that seats roughly 6 – 7 people and 3 sit down tables. We waited about 30 minutes, but expect longer during peak hours. Pricing was cheap at 1100 yen for each meal without drinks. Grab a drink downstairs at the craft beer bar afterwards for a nice digestif.

So happy that we were able to try this place out(for lunch before I had to catch my flight home !) before leaving. I had never heard of such a thing as Japanese Curry, and it certainly is a challenge to find it in the US, even is super trendy and culinary explorative places like Austin. We were the first people in the door once they opened. I can’t believe the explosion of flavors in the dishes we had. Fall off the bone chicken in a flavorful curry broth surrounded by colorful vegetables accompanied with crispy fried cheese and perfectly soft yellow rice. It was the perfect parting meal for me, although I was quite sad to say goodbye ! For those of you thst haven’t tried this place or Japanese curry in general, I beg you to give it a go, you won’t be let down !

I’ve been in Tokyo for 5 days so far and this has been my favorite meal! They open at 11am so try to arrive before 11:30am if you don’t want to wait in line. I got here around 11:25am and immediately after us, the line started to grow. I tried the special chicken with vegetables. It also includes half an egg, and you can add grilled cheese, which is a delicious sheet of melted parmesan. My boyfriend ordered the curry with hamburger. Both came with rice slightly flavored with curry. I don’t usually enjoy Japanese curry, but the soup version really hit it home for me. The broth was flavorful but light. The vegetables are grilled before it goes on top of the soup so you’re getting crunchy vegetables with charred flavors. The menu is easy to understand. And they accept credit cards! First restaurant I’ve been to in Tokyo that isn’t cash only. If you’re visiting Japan, eat here!!!

The portion was large. I got the soy chicken curry with hamburger and medium rice. At level 5 spice, my mouth was feeling the burn but the food was good so I had to keep going. They also give me a free salad.

The ambiance is perfect, quiet, cozy and warm. The staff is friendly and helpful. The curry soups are delicious, heartwarming, perfectly seasoned and very very satisfying. It’s a cold, windy and rainy day… sitting by the window and everything about this place is perfect.

A three is not very spicy. Otherwise you should get the chicken curry soup and the fried cheese which is highly recommended. Also get the original sauce

Cuisine: 9⁄10 Service: 7⁄10 Décor: 7⁄10 Value: 10⁄10 Overall: 9⁄10 The first«Wow» meal on my two weeks trip to Japan. First of all, I love Japanese curry on rice, or Chinese curry, or Indian, Malaysian, Thai … … you get the point. Some of them are thicker like gravy and others are a bit thinner, but all good. Also, growing up, my dad loves Shanghainese style curry beef soup noodles, so not like I never had curry flavored soup either. However, this was special in many ways. Reminder, there will be a wait if you come during busy dinner hours, yet the lines moves pretty fast. We waited about 10 mins to get into this small second floor restaurant with a few tables and some bar seating. We were lucky enough to snatch a couple by the chef’s work station for our awesome meal. They freshly prepare the food, so our two curries took about 15 mins after ordering before being served to us. We chose their signature original flavor soup with chicken & vegetables, as well as the pork based curry with pork belly. Both were absolutely delicious but you have to try their signature broth, it redefines light in taste while bold in flavor for my tongue receptacles. Between the two toppings, we preferred the perfectly cooked pork, though the chicken & veggies were very good too. If I had to do over again and pick one bowl only, I would get the signature original curry soup and pork belly as my main ingredient. With that said, there are other flavors and toppings I have not experienced, maybe I will venture to try something new. After all, the quality of what they put out here suggests that you really can’t go wrong.

Very good place for Japanese curry. The place is small and the curry is hot. We had the vegetarian curry and it was delicious!

Stayed in Ginza during my trip to Tokyo we had made plans for Sushi and Ramen meals, but still had a few open meals that we needed to fill up. Turned to Unilocal to see what was available. This was a bit a walk from our Courtyard Marriott hotel, about a mile or so, but we wanted to try some curry after seeing the reviews and thinking about it. So glad we did. Growing up in the U.S., when I think of curry, I think of almost a gravy-like texture that’s thick and heavy. Usually coma-inducing after consumption. This place changed my whole perception and understanding of curry. It’s texture was so much lighter, more of a soup than a gravy, and it did not lack in flavor at all. I was tempted to throw all my rice into the soup and go to work, but did not want to startle those around me so I had to exercise self control and eat it bite by bite. It was much harder than it sounds. I usually ENDURE my veggies, I don’t usually enjoy them — consuming them solely for its health benefits and nutritional value. But the broth made these veggies taste so good it made me question my carnivore-focused diet. But only for a second. Most importantly, I left the meal feeling full and not sluggish at all. A first for me after eating curry. If you have a chance, definitely check this place out. Be warned that its very small. It only has about 3 tables that seat about 4 people each and bar seating for up to 6. So during peak hours it may be a bit of a wait. Also, when we went, there was only 1 waiter to tend to everyone, so they can get jammed up and take a while to clear tables after patrons leave. We went at 8pm on a Tuesday with no issues at all.

We were in Ginza hoping to find a curry place nearby, and Unilocal led us here! It is located on the second floor, but there is a big sign on the first floor window that makes it easier to spot. The inside only has a bar, two 4 seater tables, and 1 three seater table, so try to come at non– peak hours if you don’t want to wait. My bf and I came at 1:30, and we waited on the staircase for about 20 – 25 minutes before we were able to be seated. There is conveniently a bathroom at the top of the staircase for anyone waiting. Food: I ordered the original broth, special chicken curry, and a small rice with level 0 no spice(1100 yen), and my bf opted for the same order with level 2 spice and a medium rice. We also received a small salad to start with a soy/vinegar like dressing. The curry soup was fantastic! Contrary to pork broth ramen(which we had recently), this curry soup was much lighter, healthier tasting, and still very yummy. The vegetables inside it– broccoli, okra, carrot, corn, zucchini, and potato– were all great. The chicken was so tender that it just fell off the bone, and it seemed like it had been slow-cooked for hours. The rice was good too– only thing is that I probably would’ve ordered a medium since the small was a little too tiny for me. Also, I tried some of my bf’s level 2 spicy broth, and it wasn’t too spicy so I might order a level 1 or 2 next time. Worth the wait, and now I am a new fan of curry soup!

When I first heard we were having«curry soup» for dinner. .I thought… Wow, these people are brilliant! They have turned watered down curry leftovers into a bona fide dish! Needless to say, expectations were not high. Boy was I wrong! I would revisit in a heartbeat! It was a no frills, casual little place worth a cozy vibe. The dining area likely seats around 20 people at most and the chefs are viewable from the dining area. With your meal, you get a choice of broth base, ingredients you want in your curry, spicyness level, and rice portion size, along with optional side dishes. My combo: special chicken and veggy curry + original base + level 2 spicyness(I totally wimped out!) + grilled cheese side. When it arrived, I was pleased to see a bowl of grilled veggies(broccoli, bok choy, carrot, tomato, corn… i promise there is a veggy in there for even the guiltiest carnivore!) and tender chicken leg(meat falling off bone!) surrounded literally by a piping hot clear curry soup(level 2 spicyness is equivalent to black pepper spice) and served with yellow rice. Winner winner chicken dinner! It was SO. GOOD. Also worth mentioning is the great service. We found it pretty comical at first that we had to stand outside a closed door to wait for service. The smiley host opened the door, asked us how many of us, closed the door, opened it again, told us to wait 5 mins, closed the door, then finally opened it and let us in when a table opened up. He seated us and patiently explained the menu to us at least 3 times(our brains were so tired after a long day of sightseeing and getting lost!) in English which was obviously not his first language. Service with a great attitude and smile! Love it! curry soup was literally like a clear curry flavored soup

Amazing curry soup. I looked around and ordered what everyone else seemed to be eating — chicken leg soup in the pork broth. You can choose spicy level from 0 to 10. I went with 8 since my waitress freaked out when I tried to order level 10. I’m glad i went with 8 because holy shit it was the hottest thing I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I’d get 6 or 7 next time so I could enjoy the new more. I think a typical person should go with something between 2 – 5. The chicken was so tasty with the meat falling off the bone. The broth was delicious. I prefer this broth to all the ramen broths I’ve had. You can get rice on the side. It helps soaked up the spiciness. Bye there are tissues on the tables so you can blow your nose and you’ll need to because this soup is hot! I had to wait in line for over half an hour. So worth it. I’m starting to think you’d be stupid to eat anywhere in tokyo without a line because so far these lines of people have yet to lead me astray!
