Expectations were high when I came because I was told it was considered the best xiao long bao chain in Taiwan. Décor was needlessly? upscale and staff was very friendly. The xiao long bao however came in second to my local neighborhood fav.

This place was amazing. Ended up ordering 2 orders pork dumpling, 3 orders sweet potato dumplings, 1 order sea urchin and pork dumplings, 1 order pork and crab dumping, and lychee«wine»(it’s not really wine, it’s like an Italian soda, no alcohol or booo). Dumplings were SMALL but they made up for it in flavor, I’d sit and eat these all day if they weren’t so spendy! Most dumplings you come across are cheap, these are not, about $ 7 for 4 small dumpling. If you’re looking to splurge and some delicious dumplings definitely stop here!

There simply is no better Dim Sum in the world than Din Tai Fung! I’ve eaten in many of their restaurants in Singapore, Hing Kong, San Francisco and Tokyo — and they are ALWAYS if amazing quality. Bring one of your fantastic restaurants to Washington DC please.

I’ve been to 8 different Din Tai Fungs. The food here was very good as usual. The service was a different story. No one came by the table for over 10 minutes after we were seated. We ordered 3 appetizers. First one came relatively quickly. The dumplings showed up before the other appetizers showed up. We had to ask for our other 2 appetizers and they only ended up bringing us one of the two. We ordered a second round of dumplings and that took over 10 minutes for half the order and another 10 minutes for the other half. Worst service I ever had at a Din Tai Fung and I’ve been going to them all over Asia for over 10 years.

The true dumpling experts in Asia. Originally from Taiwan, Din Tai Fun have expanded even to Japan, bringing their fresh, made-to-order dumpling to customers outside Taiwan. Their Xiao Long Bao Soup dumplings are legendary. The liquid soup on the inside flows into the spoon after the dumpling skin has been nicked with a chopstick. Sooooooo good!
