This place has it all, literally, I think you can spend a good half-day here if you were ambitious enough(and interested in venturing to all the stores). It’s also right next to ramen street, so, after you empty your wallet shopping, you can take a break and have some great food. Personally, I didn’t try any of the ramen joints, so I cannot attest for any– BUT I DIGRESS, since we are here to discuss Character Street. So the place is located in the basement of Tokyo Station. You have a little Pokemon store all the way at the end next to a Tamagotchi store. Though the Pokemon store was smaller than the Pokemon Centers that I have visited, they do jam pack a whole bunch of dolls in here so even if you were to have missed out on the Pokemon Centers, rest assured that you can still catch ‘em all here(unless you wanted any special new releases, then that I apologize– for example, they do not have the Pokemon Butts here). Now moving on with the Tamagotchi store– I WASSOHAPPYTOSEETHIS. Playing with these little devices were THEREASON I BECAMESUCH A RESPONSIBLEADULT– as a kid I was taught to play, feed, and sent my little pet to bed. Haha. It was just nice to see that there is still an active community going on. They have a display here showing you the different devices and the evolution it has made since the 90s. The current devices they sell are around 4000 yen and the most previous model has been cut down to 2000 yen. This review is going to get too long if I talk about all of the stores, so I’m just going to stick with the above two(my two favorites). However, they also have the infamois Guatemala, Totoro, Doreamon(which is hard to find, usually you would only see a small section, but here it is, a full store!!), Legos, Dragonball, etc. My feet hurt. But well worth the sight seeing even if you don’t plan on buying too much stuff.

I wonder where have I been hiding all of my time here in Tokyo! I’ve been living here for a good number of years and it’s just this week that I’ve been to 東京キャラクターストリート. With my poor Japanese skills, I stood in front of the sign, trying to dig deep into my katakana chest of knowledge.(Ha!) With my full bloom(HUH???) expression on my face, and out of curiosity, I went down the steps… and BOOM! I had to ask myself«Why didn’t you know about this place???» I am not into animé. But they are just glorious to see! I posted a photo on IG and then FB, and I have been getting hits from my friends coming to visit Tokyo. That means this place would be part of the itinerary when I take the visitors in this town. Love it!

Fun street in the basement of Tokyo station. Great location for you get some last min presents. Much more costly then Akiba but it’s not too horrible. Really packed at all time since it’s a busy station

I wish I didn’t know about this street– I spent more money here than I wanted to! They have so many cute stuff so I couldn’t resist. They even had a tamagotchi store! Wow! That was like the in thing when I was growing up– I didn’t know that it’s still around here in Japan.

I love Tokyo station, and Character Street is one of the reasons. They have a whole area devoted to all the popular characters! Of course my favorite is the Rilakkuma store, but I also enjoy browsing the other stores too. It’s a great place to go for omiyage for your friends who love animé and cute stuff. Hello Kitty, Pokemon, Totoro, you name it, they probably have a shop here.
