Bring your coins and be prepared to spend some serious time at this arcade. They’ve got a great variety of new hits and retro classics waiting for eager gamers. The main downside is that they allowed smoking, but that was the norm for arcades when I went, so I don’t ding for it.

Best arcade in Tokyo IMHO and even CNN concurs. Akihabara is an obvious spot if you are aiming to play arcade games, but there is a definite stratification depending on what you are looking for — some have broader PG appeal(prize/catcher games, music games) whereas others have a good balance of a variety of games. Taito HEY is not really either of those — it’s a collection of mostly hardcore, obscure, and old games, which will especially appeal to fans of fighting games and vertical scrolling shooters. From oldies like Super Street Fighter 2 X, KOF ’98UM, Capcom vs. SNK2 to modern games like Street Fighter IV this is a must-visit haven to play some of these [now] hard-to-find games. And I challenge you not to become mesmerized watching people play through«bullet hell» on big screen vertical shooters. If you’re visiting Japan and only have time to visit one arcade, it’s definitely worth your time to visit Taito HEY.
