I have been wanting to try a Pepper Lunch in Japan for a while now after dining several times at their Milpitas, CA, USA location. There are tons of Pepper Lunches around Japan but when we were walking around in Akihabara, we happened to come across this location. This location is the exact definition of a hole in the wall. It’s literally just a hole at the end of the small hallway next to the entrance of a game shop. We were so excited to just chance upon Pepper Lunch! Pepper Lunch is not your sit down, take your time, and eat slowly location. It is a. sit at the bar, order, eat, and go go go! It took us a bit to get used to since we weren’t too familiar with this type of style — the go go go. There is no vending machine here for you to order from cause the one they have broke. You will have to order with the girl in the middle of the bar. You pay and then your food comes out really quick! Both my boyfriend and I ordered the beef and rice dish. The beef is served raw on a stone plate surrounding a pile of rice. Once you cook it, they have this garlic soy sauce that you can mix with it and it is sooooo yummy. It’s just unfortunate that they don’t have the beef and udon dish here like they do in Milpitas. The stone plates here are REALLYHOT. I think I burnt my tongue trying to eat my first bite. I have a habit of not letting things cool down first… but everything is soooo flavorful! It’s probably because they use butter so the aroma is delicious! But I think they put a little bit too much butter cause it does get a little too oily. In fact, everything is oily there hahahaha… I would definitely recommend people to give Pepper Lunch a try. It doesn’t necessarily have to be this location … any location will do! Yummmyness.
