This place is really off the beaten path, but it’s probably one of the best soba you can have in Tokyo. They make it on site and you can see it behind a window. We also had(expensive) matsutake tempura for the first time which made it even more worth the trip to this remote area.

I’m so finicky about soba. Cuz I’m from Nagano where soba was born in. Raised by eating soba even at school meals,(normally schools don’t serve soba for school meals in other prefectures) became soba is my comfort food. Or just genetically soba lover. Most of the time soba in Tokyo disappoints me a lot. Their soba has no buckwheat flavor, just smooth like ramen. However, their soba is much better than the other I ever ate! Especially I love their way to serve tempura, chef comes and put tempura one by one. So you can eat crunchy tempura while eating soba. :) Sake selection is also fantastic. What great is the restaurant prohibit smoking! LOVEIT!!! Actually I don’t like Japan is too much following the US though, I always wonder why Japan doesn’t follow this fantastic US system banning smoking at public facilities especially restaurants! Anyway I’d love to come back if I’ll be around there. Try their soba! ;)
