Akihabara Gachapon Kai Kang is my favorite gatcha shop in the area. It is also the only shop that I have found with such a large number of machines. The assortment is massive, and the customer service counter is fast, friendly, and speaks excellent English(for other tourists like myself). Bring cash. Even large bills are ok to bring— there is an employee at the counter in the back that will break bills into coins for you and answer any questions. If there is an issue with a capsule machine, just let the employees know and they will fix it for you. Don’t feel uncomfortable asking. The photos looks a little intimidating of the front of the shop, but there is plenty of room inside. I was running around with a video camera the entire time, no problems at all. The entire experience of gatcha gatcha pon is very exciting— from buying the toys and not knowing what you are going to get out of the series to just being in the shop. My heart is racing just thinking about it and missing Japan. In the back of the shop is where there are gatcha toy series collections displayed that are for sale as collectable items. Some are really rare, so take a peek. You can also rent a space in one of the cases to display your own gatchapon items. Gatcha make great gifts and souvenirs for much less money than you would spend on other items at a gift shop. Since the toys and collectables are in capsules, they are easy to transport in your luggage. It is fun your friends to open and find the surprise inside! Also, the kawaii-uniqueness of the entire experience, as well as the appearance of the toys is uniquely Japan.
