My husband and I were trying to visit a shabu shabu restaurant during our honeymoon in 2013 called すき焼き 江知勝(Echikatsu) but we were unable to get in that night because we didn’t have a reservation. The staff was so nice and after a long debate about the best eateries in the area a waiter walked us to 天庄湯島店本館(Tenshou Tempura) where we dined on the finest tempura we have ever experienced! We didn’t need a reservation and were able to sit down immediately. :) We were seated at a small bar while an incredibly cool chef prepared us various amazing veggie and seafood tempura. He would watch us, checking if we were enjoying each piece. It was so fresh and delicious– we ate each bite as it was put in front of us! I still dream about it here in the USA. This restaurant holds special memories for us and I hope we can return the next time we are in Tokyo. We were very, very lucky to be taken here. by another restaurant no less! That alone tells you something.
