A friend of mine in my college days said to me, «Sweets are tastier in Kansai than in Kanto». Really? I was dubious of her remark. I don’t know sweets in Kanto well. I went to a famous patisserie in Jiyugaoka and bought some baked sweets. Regrettably I didn’t think they were tasty as their reputation. In the end, I agreed to her opinion. If you are a sweet addict, you had better come to this amarena. Its residential style Italian restaurant and café was outstanding in the area where fashionable shops or café stood on the same street. I was going to have lunch in another natural food café, but it was so crowded that I had to wait for an hour or so. I gave it up and headed to this restaurant. It required me double to pay in the natural food restaurant. But it was worth visiting. On the first floor gem-like cakes are aligned in a glass show case. I was shown to the second floor to have lunch. There were around 30 seats and each table was installed with space. That is, isles were wide. I ordered the most reasonable one, but it costs over 2000 yen including hor’s d’ oeuvre, pasta(choose among two), cake and drink. It was pricy for the content. I think the price was set for considering its favorable location. I went down to the first floor and chose a cake among a wide selection. It was a little troublesome. The restaurant was crowded with local madams of my age. Many were in groups perhaps consisting of mama-friends. I guessed that from their conversations. Almost all of them have same features, brown soft curling hair style and sweet and elegant fashion. I nearly burst into laughter whenever I see such an Ashiyan woman. I felt a little uneasy to have lunch alone. I don’t mind it at all if I have a beef Donburi in Y(a famous chain store of Gyudon) alone. Hahaha ;) Inside was also elegant, matching Ashiyan madams well. As for pasta and hors d’œuvre I had little impression, but as for cake, it was impeccable! If you have opportunity to look around Ashiya, you should have some sweet here, which does not betray your expectation.
