Il Giardino is an institution of Zagarolo. It opened almost 90 years ago, and its food and service has always been getting better. Il Giardino is a perfect example of how popular Roman cuisine can evolve into something modern and delicious. The owner, Daniele, is the third generation of its family owning the restaurant, he is both sommelier, a wine maker and a food expert. The ambience is relaxed, and the restaurant is part of the XV century Palazzo Rospigliosi in Zagarolo town center. I recommend to eat on the«terrazza» which has a great view on the Zagarolo valley. The food is great. My recommendation is «pasta alla forma», their signature dish: spaghetti in tomato sauce and pancetta. They are brought to the table into a Pecorino Romano wheel, where the server scratch out the cheese to incorporate it into the pasta. The result is one if the best pasta you will ever have. As a second dish go for the typical Zagarolo’s dish, the«Tordi matti». I definitely recommend il Giardino, a great place for lunch and dinner if you happen to be south or Rome.
