This is the best in town and great prices!!! 1.80 € for 1 scoop in a cone. Make sure to pay 0,50 € extra just to get Nutella in the cone. Definitely worth it. The closer to the main square, the more of a rip off it is for gelato. That’s why we loved this place. They give you a lot for a good price. Cup or cone available. They had a kit Kat flavor while we were there.

My first visit to Venice was on a backpacking and hostel adventure, the summer after I graduated from college. I separated from my 2 traveling companions and decided to explore on my own. My strategy was to just wander around and keep the map in my pocket until it was time to return to the hostel. My reasoning, I really couldn’t get too lost on an island so I let serendipity be my guide. It was late in the day and the streets were almost empty. My feet were aching and I was ready to take a break. I had left most of the tourists behind and the locals all seemed to be taking their afternoon naps. I turned a corner and discovered this gelato stand in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There were no lines and I was soon able to enjoy a scoop of chocolate sorbetto while sitting on a ledge overlooking the water. I don’t know how they achieved such an intense chocolate flavor or the almost creamy texture without any dairy products. It was so yummy that I had to try their gelato, stracciatella(cookies and cream) and gianduja(hazelnut) to enjoy on my long walk back to rejoin my friends. What a perfect ending to my day. The only downside, it was too far from our lodgings, San Marco and the Grand Canal to make it a regular stop during our all too brief stay.

An adorable gelato stand right next to the water! It’s quite near the giant old ship which is probably a tourist attraction, but I can’t find the name of it. I had chocolate gelato, which was excellent and refreshing.
