There are hundreds of shops in Venice selling fake, made in China Murano-style glass, but this store isn’t one of them. Walking through the San Marco area, being disappointed at the poor quality glasswork displayed at every other store, we noticed the beautiful glassware displayed at this store. Immediately, we were drawn. The store owner, Alfredo, took his time explaining where he sources all his items and that 90% of Murano glass in Venice is fake, which was astounding. You can immediately tell the intricacies of the glasswares and the beautiful colors that could not be noticed on the fake stuff.
But do realize you really do have to pay for quality stuff. There are items priced into the thousands of Euros. But every item can be shipped free to anywhere in the world fully insured. We ended up buying 2 small vases and a small plate for around $ 350. It is not cheap.
This is one of only 6 stores in Venice where they guarantee that every item in store is 100% hand made in Murano and it’s labeled with a sticker of authenticity. This website gives more info.
