CA’ Macana Atelier di Brassesco & Vicente

One thing you’ll notice when you visit Venice is that masks are everywhere. Many of these are cheap, mass-​produced masks that look the same. While masks are offered in just about any souvenir store or stand, there are a few shops in town that strictly offer masks and have a more unique selection. Of the ones that I browsed in, this store is definitely the best. I found items here that I didn’t see anywhere else. The masks here are hand made. In fact the guy who rang up my purchases had to take a break from working on decorating a mask! There’s a spot in the middle of the store where they do their work and you can watch. On top of all this, the masks (at least the ones I looked at) were very reasonably priced. I purchased two (pictures uploaded here) — the smaller one was 20 Euros and the larger one was 27. Then he took the time and care to ensure that my masks were packaged securely so they wouldn’t get damaged on the trip home. Both masks I purchased are gifts and I know they will be cherished. Writing this review, I’m wishing I had got one for myself. Love this store!
