Surprising the best place my friends and I have eaten in Venice! The square has many other restaurants and is a tourist trap type restaurant. We were called out to eat at their restaurant for dinner, and without reading reviews first, we picked this spot because it had the nicest table setting. The food was the best meal we’ve had. I ordered the Sciabolini with Lobster and Crab Meat, which was so tasty and my friend ordered the Sea Bream which was light and very satisfying. Can’t wait to come back for lunch!

One of the best Italian meals we had in Venice! However, the waitstaff seemed put off that we didn’t have a reservation, banishing us to the covered outdoor area while it was pouring down rain. Thankfully, a waiter felt sorry for us and convinced his«higher-up» to let us dine inside. Despite this minor mishap, we had an enjoyable experience, and got to eat some great cuisine with good wine and awesome conversation. We started off with the crudo di branzino alla mela verde e pepe rosa(raw Mediterranean Sea bass served with green apple and Peruvian pepper – very fresh!) and the parmigiana di melanzane alla Mediterranea(Mediterranean aubergine eggplant parmigiana – great portion and hearty but not heavy), followed by i calamari e calamari(squids and squids – done three ways, super tasty and not chewy like you’d expect!) and papparde alla marinara(marinara pappardelle pasta – some of the best pasta we’ve ever had!), finishing off with the tiramisu, which was THEBEST we’ve had in all of Italy! Next time we’ll come with a reservation… lol

Also alleinreisende Frau ist dort unerwünscht.

One of the better Venetian choices but decided positioned for the hordes of tourists. Locals would never done here for the average preparations, indifferent service and prices.

A celebratory trip deserves a celebratory meal and A Beccafico delivered on all counts. From the professional wait staff who explained items on the menu(only in Italian) in English to the wine suggestion, it was an excellent experience from start to finish. We walked in without a reservation and lucky to get the only remaining two top in the restaurant. Definitely get a reservation before hand. Highlights of dinner — calamari e calamari(squid done three ways), busiate del pescatore, casarecce alla turiddu, and the tiramisu. Wine flowed freely and so did our conversation. Sexy, delicious, and an overall fantastic experience… just like me :)

The black squid ink spaghetti was out of this world and the fish stew was outstanding! Following it all up with the house-made limoncello, looking forward to another visit to this great restaurant!

Just had dinner here, the service was great and the food was really good. Pasta and seafood was fresh and clean. A little bit pricey.

If you are looking for an authentic venitian meal stay away or you will be sorely dissapointed. On our second to last night in Venice we finally ventured away from our five star resort with its Michelin star chef and decided to have a real Venice dinner(which is our main goal for traveling!) We found this restaurant from the suggestions of some other travelers and were quite excited and only moderately discouraged by some of the less than optimal reviews. Well, let me tell you. We had our resort concierge make a reservation but the host was very rude until we identified ourselves as guests of said fancy resort. The waiter was patronizing and rudely corrected my admittedly poor Italian. He Was not good with suggestions and failed to communicate my desired cooking temp for steak. Even after sending it back with no apologies it still came out undercooked, not to mention the weird beige peppercorn sauce. My mothers swordfish tasted like blood since they had failed to clean out the bloodline. The roasted potatoes tasted like cut up kfc potato wedges and I pray for whatever poor soul ordered the fritto misto. That smelled like the ocean in the worst way possible. I am not one to judge but if you like this place you are a tourist with no tastebuds and you might be better suited at McDonalds. Oh and here’s the kicker… I’m out 100euro. At least my 3 oz pour of wine wasn’t horrid! So silver lining?

Great outdoor dinner here our last night in Venice! The house chianti– the best we’ve had on our trip so far. The seafood risotto– delicious. Tiramisu best we have ever had anywhere! The wait staff was attentive & helpful — when asked if there were any specials — «Si, everything here is special… What would you like?» The restaurant sits on a relatively quiet square & was the perfect end to our Venice experience. If you are like the guy who wrote that an all Italian written menu was«snooty» stay in the touristy madness around the Rialto or St Marks — if you want a nice dinner come here.

Great atmosphere, outdoor seating with great people watching. Was our first night in Venice and loved it! Brought tons of rounds of bread with olive oil and vinegar. Gave us free bruschetta which was the one of the best we have ever had. Tomatoes were so fresh they were like candy. Ordered a salad and a caprese salad. Both were great. Ordered steak which was well cooked but didn’t have a lot of spice. Ordered a pesto tomato pasta that was the best and I have included a picture. Last dish was a tomato sauce pasta with eggplant and zucchini. Loved every dish and highly recommend it! Definitely make a reservation because people were waiting to eat without one.

We were just wandering around inVenice and came upon this place, no reservation, arouond 8 pm. They found a place for us, and we are so glad they did. The whole experience was excellent, from the Aperol Spritz’ to the appetizers to the main course. I loved my sea bream in a ctrus sauce, and my wife devoured her pasta with mixed seafood. I had a delightful glass of Istrian Malvasia with my meal. If we had come with more of an appetite for wine, the wine list offered plenty of choice. The service was friendly and attentive. Could not have done better.

Short and sweet: this was probably our least favorite restaurant that we tried in Italy. Despite being almost empty when we arrived early for dinner, we got a bit of a grimace at not having a reservation(we were staying nearby and had just flown in that afternoon). The menu was large and entirely in Italian, which feels kind of… I don’t know, snooty? I certainly don’t expect every restaurant to cater to English-speakers, but this is a big place in square and it’s obviously focused on tourists. Of the 7 tables around us, 5 of them ordered in English(and 1 Italian and 1 French). Ultimately we didn’t have a very good idea what to order, and while the rigidly upright waiter was happy to translate anything for us, there’s only so much of translation-asking you can do before you start feeling like a heel. Ultimately we mostly went with his suggestions, despite not being that hungry, and ended up with more food than we really wanted. All of which was okay, and none of which I’d really call«good». Generally everything was under-seasoned and kind of bland. And to top it off, it ended up being one of the more expensive meals of our trip. So, while it wasn’t aggressively terrible in any one area, everything felt sub-par. With all the restaurants around, I’m sure there are better options.

A Beccafico is a great spot in Venice. I would recommend making dinner reservations to this restaurant. On our first night in Venice, our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant to us. She said that we didn’t need reservations, but when we got there, at first, they weren’t going to have any opening for that night. Luckily, we were there early enough that after some consideration, they found us a table. It was an outdoor dining experience for us in venice! The food was delicious. Unfortunately, the menu was entirely in Italian, but they had a waiter that helped translate the menu to help us order. This is what we ordered based on a italian to english translation: Seafood pasta with mussels, clams, scallops, and prawns. Pasta with red tomato and basil sauce with fish Both dishes were excellent. I would recommend ordering anything with seafood at the restaurant. Service in Venice is always at a slow pace, so just take your time.

Ended up being a very expensive meal at the end of the night. The tiramasu was the best I’ve ever had. Service was spotty, a little bit on the snobbish side when talking to the host but the server was quite friendly. Eating outdoors is a treat, taking in the setting at night really adds to the experience as well. My wife had the risotto, I can’t rememver what I had so that may tell you something.

Service was not at all good. We watched other tables get very personable and personal service from some of the waiters. I think the manager took our order but we got served by maybe the new staff? No one checked in on us. Had to keep reminding for things we ordered or asked for. Never did get the Parma for our pasta. The food was excellent! It was good but not cheap. On a different night we might have had the better waiters. We did mention as we left that we felt jealous of the other tables. They apologized profusely.

This was the best meal we had in Venice. First I have to talk about the staff, they were wonderful and welcoming! Sometimes you get the feeling that the staff wants you to leave so they can get another table sat, NOT here! They wanted us to stay well past 10:30pm(our reservation was at 7:30pm), so we happily sat outside in the perfect Venice weather and sipped wine. Now the food, this place is fresh seafood heaven. I ordered a spaghetti with clams & scallops in an Olive oil sauce, and they did not skimp on the clams & scallops. There was so much seafood on my pasta that I couldn’t finish it, I mean, what’s more painful than leave scallops on your plate??? This is a must try!

Must try the house special mussels! I’m a huge fan of seafood and mussels typically are not my thing… but the mussels here were the best I have ever had — cooked to perfection and not too muscular in texture. Wonderful friendly staff that translated the menu for us since there was no English menu. Lobster and clam pastas were delicious! Unilocal reviews don’t do the restaurant justice — search this restaurant on Trip Advisor and you will see how many people like this place!

Tiramisu was very good, as well as the complimentary bruschetta. More modern décor than nicely rustic Alla Madonna, but the spaghetti with clams was better at Madonna. Overall very nice and the walk from St Mark’s Square is through an upscale shopping neighborhood, so no tourist trap souvenir shops. The clientele seemed to be mainly Italian so that is a good sign for the food quality I think.

This restaurant came highly recommended but it was not good at all. The waiters were very snobby. My clam spaghetti was so salty it was almost inedible. I had to ask for lemon to squeeze on the pasta to lighten the blow and actually eat it. I gave two stars because the tiramisu was very good… But for 15 Euros it better be good!

Our experience with A Beccafico restaurant was more than pleasant. After couple of days of falling for multiple tourist-trap restaurants, A Beccafico came as a prize. Service was excellent, and food was delicious and fresh. They really took care of us, our plates and glasses were never empty. At the end we were offered some complimentary delicious sweet wine. Outdoor seating with a view of lively square made the entire experience even better.

So sorry to see that the previous reviews are not so good for this place. We dined here later in the evening, so perhaps they were not as busy as we had excellent service, and a very engaging waiter. The place is expensive, so be prepared for that, and is seafood heavy as one might expect in Venice. Food was solid!
