Osteria Il Grattacielo

Our first meal in Siena. We ordered an assorted meats and cheese platter with garbanzos salad. We asked the guy at the counter to make the selection for us and it was just amazing. Lots of locals have lunch here. Awesome choice!

This was our first meal in Siena. Short 5 minute walk from the bus station (Piazza Antonio Gramsci). For lunch, they have an assortment of prepared foods — various salads, vegetable items, meats and cheese. You pick and chose what you want and how much you want and they assemble the plate (s) for you. The food was amazing! I think I had at least 7 or 8 items on two plates. One of our best meals in Italy!

Make sure to make a reservation if you want to eat here! The food was delicious and all home made. No menus, just let them feed you. We had the pici, an authentic Siena pasta. Perfect restaurant for our one night in Siena.

Wow! What a hidden gem! A tiny place hidden away on a corner with two tables inside and 3 outside. Best anti pasta plate I’ve had so far and the pasta of the day special was very well executed! With good table wine and an awesome meal at a very affordable price, I give it a 5 star. Honestly, I would pay more for their food.

Loved it! This is the real thing if you want simple italian food at a good price. Our family of 4 spent € 60 on one of the best meals we had in Italy.
We got a plate of mixed starters and two large portions of pasta.

Un posticino da non perdere a Siena, in un vicolo di fronte alla famosa pasticceria Nannini. Pochi metri quadri, pochi piatti, ma tutti genuini e gustosi, da bere col buon vino della casa, come da tradizione. Osti gentili, anche piatti caldi.
A small place not to be missed in Siena, in an alley in front of famous Panforte pastry shop Nannini. Few tables, few plates all tasty and fresh, to be taken with the good «house» wine, as per the «Osteria“‘s tradition. Welcoming patrons, also hot plates.

The food is wonderful here, I go every time I am visiting Siena and will continue to recommend it to everyone I know. It feels like proper home cooked food at a reasonable price. Osteria il Grattacielo is the Skyscraper which is made funny by its location, but is well worth a visit.
You wonder in and get a plate by asking for what you would like on the counter, and they will bring you wine to your table. You can sit and eat what I would arguably consider the best lunch in Siena. I like that on each occasion I have eaten here I have been surrounded by both locals and tourists and that it really feels chilled out.
