Hilton Garden Inn Rome Claridge

I stayed here in late May 2015 while on vacation. Room was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast, which is included, was excellent. They even make espresso beverages for you (of course! after all, this is Italy!) :-)
The location is great; It has a very much of a «neighborhood» feel, since it’s not in a touristy part of the city. There is a grocery store nearby, as well as several nice cafes and restaurants. Public transportation is very convenient.

Three and a half stars. The hotel is well run and the rooms are immaculate and modern. I give it three and a half stars, because it just isn’t that comfortable of a place to stay. It is not well located (although you can can take a tram right outside into the heart of the tourist areas). The elevators are small and the lobby is not very big. The staff at the front desk were great and to be fair, we stayed on points. For those with status at Hilton you are probably better off staying at a different property that has a few perks and a bit more luxury.

Overall this hotel is poor.
During our stay it was really hot and the room A/​C couldn’t cool the room. The hallways were saunas. I talked to the front desk person and his excuse was they don’t know when it’s going to be hot so they have trouble regulating the temp in the building. So with a sauna for a hallway and hot temps outside our room A/​C seemed to make the space barely livable.
This hotel is a glorified Hampton Inn Hilton chain. The HGIs in the U.S. are known for cooked to order breakfasts. This hotel just had and buffet with limited options. Eggs were overlooked and the bacon was black. Overall I made it work but still poor quality nonetheless especially compared to American HGIs.
The location isn’t terrible but it’s not great. At night the area is sketchy. Any attraction is a bus/​taxi away so nothing truly walkable.

Elevators were so small, I felt claustrophobic. My husband and I had to take separate elevators with our one suitcase each because we couldn’t fit in one together. It reminded me of the old London phone booths. I thought they no longer made those booths anymore? Why would you make an elevator that small?!
Saw the poor bell boy bring down a few rooms of luggage one morning, he jam packed them in one elevator with Tetris skill style and took the other elevator down.
Service at the front desk was courteous and polite. However the mosquito’s in the waiting area will feed on you as you wait for your shuttle or taxi.
Our room was small and we knew the location was not central to all the tourist attractions in Rome, however only 12−15mins by taxi or you can take the local bus. The map they provide is very helpful, it lists all the lines on it to get back to the hotel.
However we went during the July heat wave and our AC felt like it was barely working. We couldn’t get the temperature any lower during the 4 nights we stayed. Also on the last night, our toilet completely broke and they offered to switch our rooms but we were ready to go to bed. The WiFi was the only saving grace to this place. There are only 3 or 4 restaurants nearby to eat at. The Tiger grocery store across the street was there and we saved by buying a case of water there.
It’s in a small safe neighborhood of Rome. However every taxi driver we got to take us back didn’t know where the Hilton Garden Inn was. Good thing we had their address and map!

My sister and I stayed here recently for our trip to Rome. I am a Hilton Honors member so we only looked at the Rome hotels and settled on this one. The hotel staff was great and very accommodating. We had a corner suite on a high floor. The room was fantastic and clean. We had a balcony with a great view of the surrounding neighborhoods. There was free wi-​fi which was an awesome plus. While the hotel was not in a touristy destination, the hotel had a good strategic location to all the nearby touristy places we wanted to go. The hotel staff provided us with a map and directions on how to use the public transportation to get where we want to go. All we had to do is walk outside the hotel and in 15 minutes we were wherever we wanted to go.

I would be giving this Hilton property 5 stars but we had 2 corner rooms so the wi-​fi was sporadic. It is great to have a Hilton property in Rome since we are Hilton Honors members & used points for this stay. The staff was accommodating by giving us two adjoining rooms for our party of four. The rooms were more spacious than a typical NYC hotel room in Manhattan. The service was good for breakfast. They offered high protein options as well as excellent pastries. Free cappuccinos with breakfast was appealing. A great value in a nice neighborhood. Near the Rome National Art Gallery and Gallery Borghese. It is not near all of the ‘main’ attractions but we found it easy to get around Rome from here. Get the wifi signal stronger !!! But overall, a good stay…

Efficient, clean, and modern. A little tight on space, and I may be jaundiced as I was not offered any type of upgrade (Diamond status). The breakfast buffet was very good and the staff, both in the breakfast area, and the front desk, were excellent. Not convenient if you are heavy on sightseeing, but in a very nice part of the city, and right on the tram line.

Das Hilton Garden Inn ist die preisgünstige Variante der Hotelgruppe. Entsprechend ungezwungen ist auch die Atmosphäre. Das Haus ist aus den 70er Jahren. aber neu renoviert. Es macht insgesammt einen sauberen und gepflegten Eindruck. Der Fitnessbereich ist wie so oft etwas klein ausgefallen. Sauna und Dampfbad sind vorhanden, aber man muss teilweise an der Rezeption bitten, diese einzuschalten. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist etwas kleiner als im Standard-​Hilton, aber genauso lecker. In der Umgebung gibt es einige Restaurants, die zum Abendessen ohne grossen Anlass gut geeignet sind. Die Verkehrsandbindung ist mit Bussen akzeptabel. Man muss sich aber an die Halbstundentakte gewöhnen.

Another front desk lady is indifferent and doesn’t care. We complained to our tour guide and she got us taken care of since our room wasn’t ready and the front desk lady didn’t care.
Breakfast is awesome and included.
Maintenance staff is friendly.
They keep this place super clean. Very impressive.
Prices for drinks and food in the restaurant and the pantry are very reasonable.
Would definitely stay there again.

The recently acquired property by the Hilton chain is a pleasant hotel with helpful staff. The room had a balcony and was nicely furnish including a fridge (all space for your own goodies) and flat screen/​panel TV, Americans may find the room a bit small yet pleasant. The room decoration and furniture was very stylish. The free breakfast was fairly good, although, it may repeat its menu day by day it was, nonetheless, well stocked. Free WIFI is available in the room. Front desk staff is available to help you with directions, currency exchange and at times even bus tickets/​passes which you can also obtain at the smoke shop around the corner. There are several cafes around the hotel which appear to have a local clientele. The hotel could improve the outdated fitness equipment for their guest. Bus 360 (arriving from Termini station) has a stop just meters from the hotel and can be board either a block away on same Viale Liegi (past Via Vincenzo Bellini) or on Via Guido D’Arezz. The tram that stops almost in front of the hotel takes you all the way to the Vatican (a block or two away). For your convenience there is a supermarket across the street (underground) and a good restaurant (with the best lasagna) around the block on Viale Gioacchino Rossini. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Garden.
