Il Fico

After many locals warned us about bad tourist food in the area, we picked carefully. Il Fico exceeded all expectations. Armando gave us spectacular service. I highly recommend this place for the food, the atmosphere, and the location. Every employee we interacted with, including the owner, as well as Armando’s twin brother, had a wonderful sense of humor and were very gracious hosts. Thank you Il Fico!

Contrairement à mes copines, je né me suis pas faite avoir par la formule du midi avec boisson + mise en bouche + pizza au choix parmi 3 ou 4 pour 10 €, soit le prix d’une pizza à la carte.
Du coup, leurs pizzas à elles étaient peu garnies et pas franchement fameuses, alors que la mienne (aux artichauts)… miamiam ! Elle aurait quand même pu être un peu plus généreuse, ce n’est pas LA meilleure pizza de tous les temps, mais elle m’a bien plue (j’avoue saliver un peu en revoyant la photo)
Disons que la 4e étoile est gagnée grâce à l’accueil et la sympathie des serveurs, et à l’emplacement, dans une petite rue très peu passante, le calme avant et après la tempête des lieux touristiques, parfait.

Wir wollten einfach in Ruhe mal sitzen, die qualmenden Füße erholen lassen und dabei eine Kleinigkeit essen. Wir hatten nicht sehr viel erwartet und entsprechend haben wir auch nichts zu beklagen. Wir hatten beide jeweils eine Pizza und diese waren in Ordnung. Die mit Ruccola und Schinken war sogar recht gut! Die Capriciosa sowie das Tiramisu waren eher gehobener Durchschnitt.
Bedienung war recht freundlich und wir konnten in Ruhe dort essen und uns etwas erholen!

I had this meal paid for me, so I decided to go big or go home. The seafood pasta dish was pretty decent, but also a little drippy! The steak was fairly good, but not worth investing too much in.
However, the bread before the meal was off the hook. I also had a bunch of friends who got the pesto gnocchi and raved about it.

This place has it all… location, great food and an outstanding wait staff. Have eaten here on all trips to Rome and have never been disappointed. Food rates with the fancier places. It is a fun place to eat and the atmosphere can’t be bet. Worth ssix stars.

We went here as a group of 4 adults after visiting some nearby attractions. I had the gnocchi which was some of the best I had in Rome. It tasted fresh and had a great texture. But above all, we enjoyed the service more than anything. Even on a busy weekend night, the servers (and operators) Armando and Rudi were absolutely amazing. Not only were they on the ball for drink refills or other requests, but they were charming and entertaining too. They allowed us to hang out there for a while to relax after a long day of walking and even stopped at the table just to converse a bit.

We had an early family dinner here. No crowd and easy to find a sitting. We were pleased to find a wide variety on the menu. The food was quite good. I loved the gnocchi. My wife loved the ravioli. The staff was quite welcoming. The staff was attentive, tolerated my very poor Italian, and helped with ready english when I was stuck. I cant wait to go back! Indoors was comfortable, but the fun is always on the streets in these little neighborhoods, so next time we will sit outside.

Every thing here was great. We had ravioli with spinach and ricotta with red sauce and their past. Both entrees were fantastic. I’m giving this place a 4 star instead of a 5 star because it was a little warm inside. But all in all nice little restaurant here in Rome.

Das Il Fico, in einer der kleineren Seitenstraßen Roms gelegen, ist ein empfehlenswertes Restaurant, keine Touristenfalle. Frische Ware ist dort selbstverständlich (wir hatten unter anderem Tagliatelle mit frischen Steinpilzen) — absolut lecker. Die restlichen Speisen waren auch sehr gut (wir waren zu sechst), guter Wein, warmer Abend, Musik von Straßenmusikanten — Dolce Vita — was will man mehr? ;o)

Thats right, 5 stars ! I do not know what that italian lady wrote in her review, its just wrong. Now I don’t know a lot about food, but if I am willing to walk a mile with my achy flat feet, to come back the next day and eat again at the same place, it is just amazing.
Ok, so this place has to be in my top ten in rome where I dined. I was here for lunch and came back the next day for dinner. I loved it, the staff was super friendly, the owner, Andreas was very helpful and an absolute pleasure to talk to and really when you have good food all around the city what really sets a place aside is the service. This place offered that on top of the exceptional food. The bruschettas were amazing, the best in town. If I remember correctly they make their own bread and that makes the difference. I think we had tiramisu for dessert on both days and it was just divine. 5 stars, and since its election season here in the US — I am the king of rome and I endorse this message !

Nel mio viaggio di nozze a Roma provato un po ‘pizza. Questo è stato come previsto, molto gustoso. Fissato il prezzo anche in una buona media. Ci sarebbe tornato. Le camere sono piuttosto piccola, ma accogliente.
In my honeymoon in Rome tried some pizza. This was as expected, very tasty. Priced even in a good average. We would come back. The rooms are rather small, but cozy.
In meinen Flitterwochen hier in Rom einige Pizzerien ausprobiert. Diese war wie erwartet sehr lecker. Preislich auch noch im guten Durchschnitt. Wir würden wieder kommen. Die Räumlichkeiten sind eher klein, dennoch Gemütlich.

Sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, für Rom ungewöhnlich freundliche Kellner und recht gute Qualität findet ihr im Il Fico. Unser Tisch hat das 15EUR-​Menü gewählt. Hier erhaltet ihr 1x Primi & Secundi sowie ein Getränk. Die Portionen waren recht ordentlich und wir haben zu viert 2 Liter Hauswein umsonst vernichtet. Es hat sich sehr gelohnt etwas Abseits der Piaza Navona mit ihren vielen Touristenfallen nach Lokalen zu suchen.

18 Feb 12: I read reviews of this restaurant on a travel site and what sparked my taste buds were the words, «Octopus salad.» It was a good 20 minute walk from my hotel, so I headed out a little early so I could enjoy the street scenes. I got to the restaurant about 8 minutes before my reservation time and saw just a few people sitting inside. My heart sank a little, as I was expecting to see the place full with diners. I walked around a few more minutes and then went inside the restaurant.
I was greeted with a warm smile from Giovanna, the waitress who took care of me throughout the night. I was given a small glass of prosecco. I thought that was a nice touch! The place filled quickly, although only to about 80% capacity. There were lots of Italians, which is always a good sign.
I had a delicious meal: I started with fried stuffed zucchini flowers with anchovies and cheese. They were really good! 3 €. Then I had the octopus salad, which I thoroughly enjoyed. 6 €. For my entrée, I had the saltimbocca, which came out quickly. Two pieces, cut very thin, topped with proscuitto, and served with a nice light sauce. Small portions but quite flavorsome. With wine (and complimentary limoncello and biscotti) my bill came to 25 €.
I thought this to be an excellent value along with very friendly service and I’m so glad I picked this place for dinner. I definitely want to come back here again.

Ich habe das Il Fico weder als Gourmet-​Tempel noch als Totalausfall in Erinnerung. Wir waren erschöpft und wollten einfach in Ruhe anständig essen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden, und ich erinnere mich auch noch, dass der Kellner total nett war.

I found this to be a wonderful unspoiled neighborhood spot that was largely frequented by locals. We came here for dinner a couple nights based upon the recommendation of our innkeeper.
The food is pretty traditionally Roman. The pici with amatriciana sauce was pretty good. The bruschetta al pomodoro was delicious– the best we had during several stops in Italy. The outer crust of the bread was crunchy with the inner center being just the right amount of soggy from the red-​ripe tomatoes and basil with olive oil. One night, a special of grilled fish we had ranked as one of the two best fish preparations I have ever had– the other being years ago at a beachside café’ in Santorini.
The service is a little hit or miss, and it gets crowded so you are not guaranteed a table outside; however, the inside is modern farmhouse kitsch that is fun. House wines are relative bargains. I loved the Bianchi, which had just a touch of effervescence and –careful– can easily be drunk by the carafe! Note: if Fico is busy, avoid the other place down the alley. We got lured into the competitor one night by their offer of a glass of wine while we waited and the food was terrible! We should have stuck with Il Fico that night, too.

Mit hat es im IL FICO absolut NICHT geschmeckt.
In Roms Seitenstraßen kann man so manche Restaurants finden — leider auch solche, bei denen das Essen nicht so gut schmeckt.
Ich hatte Pizza und Salat bestellt. Beides geschmacklich eine Katastrophe. Ich habe von beidem die Hälfte zurückgehen lassen.
Die «Pizza» war ein Teigfladen mit Tomatensoße und drei Scheiben Wust — sonst nix, kein Käse, keine weiteren Zutaten. Außerdem war die Pizza kalt. Ich habe in Italien noch nie eine Pizza gegessen, die mir schlechter geschmeckt hätte. Die 2 Sterne gibt es nur, weil das Restaurant sauber war und ich mir nicht den Magen verdorben habe.

In Roms Seitenstraßen kann man so manche Gastronomieperle entdecken. Wir sind zufällig auf Il Fico gestoßen und waren begeistert.
Billiger Preis (13EUR für Nudelgericht+Fleischgericht+1 Getränk), nette Atmosphäre sowohl draußen in dem kleinen Seitengässchen als auch drinnen in den überraschend großen Räumen, nette Bedienung und vor allem: Es hatte auch sehr gut geschmeckt.
Das Restaurant wirkt durch das Logo und die professionelle Website sehr modern, hat sich aber trotzdem die italienische Seitengassenromantik bewahren können.
Wären gerne wieder hinaber in Rom gibt es doch noch so viel anderes zu probieren
