This is my favorite little salumeria in Rome. I visit them every time I’m there and they are always helpful, explain their products, and are willing to vacuum pack my purchases to bring home. I just finished off a hunk of guanciale I brought back from their shop just the other night.

Antica Norcineria Viola was highly recommended by a couple I rented an apartment from near Camp De Fiori. It’s located right on the square but it’s not a tourist shop. They have incredible salami’s and cured meats. The owner is very friendly and let’s you taste any of the meats. They will see by the slice so you could order a small amount for lunch or dinner.

If you like salami or other cured meats, Antica Norcineria Viola is about as good as it gets in the world. The owner has a plate of samples of half a dozen or more types of sausages, some with Barolo wine, or black truffles, or garlic. I believe there may be over thirty types. The big challenge is that they are all so delicious that you have a hard time choosing which to purchase. Couple your salami with some bread from the Forno bakery diagonally across the Campo de’ Fiori and you have a delicious snack or sandwich. Overall, this is a classic gem in Rome. You really cannot go wrong here.

Old school saliumeria in touristy Campe de Fiori. It’s like stepping back into time when food was made right. When you go in, there’s a plate on the counter with plenty of free samples. If you talk to the guy he’ll pull out some new stuff for you to try. You could do a lot of damage in a place like that.
