Probably the worst hostel I have stayed at so far, which is very unfortunate since this hotel has an amazing view when looking out the balcony. We had a hard time sleeping due to frigid temperature in the bedroom even after asking for the heat to be turned on. I have communicated with the owner via email after we left about our stay and all he did was give me scientific facts about what the ideal temperature should be during certain times of the year. Every person is different and being that my friend and I are iron deficient we get colder faster and our needs were not met. But as I wrote on a different review, the rest of the staff was great, except I will not be coming back or recommending the hostel to anyone. The price was cheap so I guess I got what I paid for. Next time I think I will just pay more and stay in a nicer, more comfortable place in Positano so that I can fully enjoy my stay.

The Hostel Brikette has a great view to the coast. Positano is such a nice place and I loved the beach. But already since my arrival at the hostel I felt so disappointed of this hostel because the reception was so frigid. My bed was not yet prepared and I had to do it by myself. The mattress was wrapped in a plastic film so that every moving during the night made a loud sound. The room wasn’t clean and the smell was digustful. The room was clammy and we had ants inside. During my whole stay(5 days) the hostel was dirty in particular the bath room was completely wet — I recommend wearing wellington boots for go to toilet or install a longer shower curtain or a door for the shower. There is no WIFI in the bedrooms — only a small WIFI area around the reception. The staff was consisted only of young English who were there only for 2 months. There was no authentic feeling being in Italy. No possibility speaking Italian at the hostel and seeing the simpatico Italian mentality. I’m not a native English speaker and the staff spoke English so fast that I couldn’t understand anything.

Well located hostel type place as opposed to hotel. Appeals mainly to the younger less critical crowd! Cheap and cheerful would best describe this place I suspect. However it is in a good location for access to the port and the ferries which ply between the other Amalfi coast ports like, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello, Sorrento. Wherever you stay in Positano you need to be fit, the stone steps are a killer, and everything is uphill. The view of the town from the harbour is something you will never forget though.

Dont be fooled by what you read else where. This place is a hostel, a backpackersso if you are a family, dont be surprized if you dont like it. Yes there maybe some cleanliness issues, but no more than any motel ive stayed in, and if the owner didnt like you, its probably cus you are an idiot. This is one of the best hostels i have ever stayed in my life. Hands down the best view ever. set on the slopes of the almalfi coast and with 3 levels of veranda’s the brikettte is on the more local side of the area, surronded by great little cafes. I stayed in a private with my girl friend, which was very nice and quiet, with the top massive balcony. it was alittle more money, but totally worth it
