Castello Doria

Gayle and I climbed up the hill to take a closer look at the Castle walls and the cool Sea views below. There was also a trail head that would have probably taken us to Riomaggiore if we had the time. And since there was no entry to the Castle from this side, we walked back down and experienced the essence of Portovenere in other ways.

Le château de Porto Venere est un véritable modèle d’architecture militaire génoise, même si sa physionomie, à l’extérieur anisi que dans sa disposition intérieure, a beaucoup changé au fil des siècles, à cause du progrès des forteresses et des armes à feu. Il a été reconstruit au XVI° siècle sur les ruines d’une ancienne forteresse byzantine. Il est entouré de puissants remparts qui offrent, à pic sur la mer, des panoramas d’une rare beauté. Magnifique 2,5EUR l’entrée par personne et gratuit pour les enfants
