We did a free walking tour and our tour guide spoke volumes of how great this spot was. Ironically(or not) it definitely felt like a tourist trap. Not to mention after sitting there for 20 minutes we never were helped(even after flagging down the servers). Cool history, but we decided to get up and leave.

This claims to be the oldest restaurant in Venice — and one can believe it, though I would imagine there is some competition! It is quite hard to find — over its own small bridge right by the fish market and looked very inviting on this colder, rainy evening. The main room is indeed quite cosy, wood lined, packed with pictures and old letters hanging on the walls. Prosecco and bread came free with the seemingly obligatory cover charge. After the build up, the food was a little disappointing. My sole was ok but average, slightly compensated for decent chips(well, I told you it was a cold rainy night!). Despite the rain and the hidden location, the restaurant soon filled up which helped the warm atmosphere. But there are so many better places to eat in Venice; despite all you hear there is good cooking to be had if you look.
