The atmosphere was lovely and the service, too, but two of us were quite disappointed; the chicken was moist and served and potatoes and vegetables but the bean soup was tasteless and thick; the ricotta first course with zucchini flowers was lovely in its presentation but too rich, and the bread absolutely tasteless. We think American Italian has gotten so much better and the last time we went to Danny Meyer’s Union Square and had pasta it was far better, as was the bread and even the wine. We were greatly disappointed! But saved room for great gelato nearby.
