Italo Treno

We decided to take the Italo train from Rome to Venice instead of flying as I wanted to experience Europe’s popular mode of transportation. We sat in Coach 2 Prima, it has plenty of legroom and was quite comfortable. The cabin was clean, and the toilet was well maintained. The staff was very friendly and occasional refreshments were served.
Our travel time was 3 hours and 15 minutes as we caught the morning 8:15am train and arrived at Venice around 11:30am. The Italo train tops at 300kmh which is equivalent to 186mph. Overall, it was fast, smooth and on-​time. I highly recommend Italo Treno.

We were very disappointed with the service at Italo. We used the service from Venice to Florence and Florence to Rome. When we got to Rome, we were brought to the wrong station. However, when we went to the Italo kiosk, we tried to make sure we were in the right spot and tried to show them our ticket. We were «shoo“ed away and told to look at the dashboard for our train. Waiting and waiting. Finally an hour later, we are still staring at that stupid board for our train to pop up. I came back to the kiosk to talk to the same person from before. First off, he saw that I was next in line and told me that I needed to wait on line in back of everyone else. I waited as he did nothing and directed everyone to purchase their tickets at the computer. Finally, when it was my turn I explained the problem that even though we got here an hour early, and have been watching the board, our train is not showing up. He told me I should still wait and watch the board, trying to «shoo» us away again. Finally I told him, my train is scheduled to leave at 10:56, its 10:58 and still not on the board. So finally he looks at the ticket and says you missed your train youre at the wrong station. Instead of directing me on what I can do, or seem regretful especially since I was there an hour before, he took the next person in line. By the time I got back to my husband, I was very upset. So my husband gets on line to talk to him to find out what can be done to get us a train. He told my husband that he wasnt the person who originally talked to us (even though he was), and he was also with a female colleague who wasn’t helpful either. Finally, he said yes he remembered us but thats not what we asked him.
This is the type of service that deals with customers all the time. And customers who are frustrated who want to make sure they are in the right place and not missing their train. I get it — we were at the wrong station. But if the two employees did their job when we first got to them an hour before our train departed, we could have made it to another train station. Stop trying to shoo people away.
It would have cost 108 euros to repurchase our tickets from the booth. Trenitalia cost us about 80 euros and we were able to book our tickets ourself. it took the same amount of time and it was clean.

Without question the best and news trains in Italy. Wifi works great, comfortable seats.
We used the Comfort Car and was great. The Premium car is behind us and even much nicer.
Getting on and off very easy and if you have any question just find any Italo person in the red outfits and they point you in right direction.
