Gayle and I had our«Farewell to Italy» Dinner here on our last evening here. We just happened to be wandering around in the old City and found this place near the San Matteo Church, and without a tour book to lead the way. Actually, the front door had the right kind of stickers that suggested that this place was well regarded and that they accepted credit cards(which is not necessary a given in parts of Europe). We had a fabulous time at La Buca di San Matteo di Bianchi Alessia Giorgia. The interior is warm, with the right amount of soft light, dark woods, nice background music, and an open view into the kitchen. In addition to the main Dining Room, there’s an interesting and romantic«honeymoon» room, a group area, and another separate seating area. Gayle ordered the Tasting Menu, which at 28 Euros was a steal. It included multiple courses, plus a glass of wine and a bottle of water. I decided to order pasta only(Troffie al Pesto di Pinoli e Scampi) and between us, both selections were more than enough food. It was also simply delicious, and we would have licked the plate if they would have let us. This is definitely a place to have a romantic dinner with your spouse. We enjoyed the service, and having one more chance to relax, reflect, enjoy, and then happily and slowly walk back to the Hotel hand-in-hand.
