A tourist trap in Florence. Do not bother. Food mediocre at best. Wait staff fluent in english. Very expensive.

I’ve visited here and dined on numerous occasions. The food is always perfect and the service almost family like. No favorites on the menu because it’s all good. A great place to experiment. You’ll always leave full and satisfied.

I seriously don’t know what to say about this place. Other reviews were right, that they stick American tourists like myself in a back room and ignored. It required a lot of negotiating but we got ourselves out of that room and to the front. And; what a wonderful surprise! We got to have delicious probably supermarket bought breadsticks. The menu was made to look like it was remade everyday, but I think the only thing that they change is the date on the menu. Plus, it is made to look laminated even though it is clearly shoved in a binder separator. On the bright side, the menu is in English and Italian. I got the sole. It was delicious, although it was floating in butter. My father is vegetarian, and they only had two meals that were completely vegetables, and one was a side salad.

It’s true what they say about this place that they put all the Americans in the smaller back rooms and save the more attractive front room for locals. Also all the food is really heavy with meat and gross ingredients. This is good if you like this sort of thing. But not if you want lighter or vegetarian fare. It’s over priced. And service is short and stuffy. My son ordered sole which was literally floating in butter.

Found this place after being turned down by 2 restaurants on a Friday evening — I didn’t know you needed reservations in Florence, but am glad I found Cammillo — they agreed to take us(4), even though they were full and put us in the chef’s table — great spot by the way. I have to start by saying that Italy probably has the best food in the world — not because pasta is an universal food and loved by all, but because every restaurant you walk in, the food is amazing… from small simple places to touristy ones to fancy restaurants, they were all great! But let’s go back to Cammillo: our waiter, the same gentleman with gray hair you see in the pics, he was great. very friendly, always with a smile on his face and with good suggestions. We ordered a bunch of apps and they were all good, our entrees were really good too, including the huge steak and the wine(3 bottles) were good as always too. If you’re in Florence, make sure to stop by this place and have dinner. Authentic Italian food with good atmosphere and nice staff… a must have when in Italy! Can’t wait to go back!

Horrible! A 1 star is generous! Just to level set, We are very excited and open to new things. Never again will I go to this place. Not because of the food, even though 1 out of 4 meals was edible but because they were rude/shady and downright the worst part of Italy. I have never been this mad ever in a foreign country. I spent 5 years overseas and been to Italy 10 times! They treated us like tourists… even though we were definitely not dressed like Americans(no offense). Started with stating that I ordered a lot, mind you, I love food… but am a size six. Rude! They basically said they were out of burrata, even though 4 tables after us were served. Who runs out of burrata in Italy? It’s basically like running out of French fries at McDonalds. It was 7:30pm and they were also out of tortellini. Isn’t fresh pasta a staple? How is it possible to be out out it in the country that invented it? We spent $ 300 the night before and had an amazing meal, I beg you… please do not give this place your money.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I did not find tonight very enjoyable at Cammillo. First of all, the service was slow throughout the meal, and the bread they brought out for us was rock hard and dry. Our food took about an hour to be prepared. I ordered meat tortellini which was not good until I covered it in salt and pepper. My brother’s rabbit was great, though, so that saved a little face. The sorbet I got for dessert was already half melted by the time it arrived to the table, and I had to speed through it without talking to my family so that I wouldn’t have to drink lemon juice from the bottom of the bowl. Cute restaurant, nice atmosphere, no complaints there. But the food was average, and it took a long time to cook, which is most important to me.

While at our hotel on Lake Maggiorre, we encountered Guy Fieri. When we told him our next stop was Florence, he reccommended Camillo and suggested we tell them he sent us. We went for a late lunch and did give our introduction of Guy’s. The restaurant was beautiful. The waiter recalled Guy and as lunch progressed he regailled us with his recall of his visit about 2 – 3 months earlier during truffle season. He said Guy was there 3 nights in a row eating truffle dishes, that he was lively and talkative. We were given a glass of prosecco and a «fritter» at being seated. The waiter informed us that it was now Crimini season, and that truffle season had past. We had great food! and awesome service. I had Crimini and pasta then Osso Buco. Loved it. I had a chocolate cake for dessert, the other desserts for our group were lemon gelato and peach cobbler. We were given a complimentary Tiramisu for dessert that was the best I have ever had. It had a rich custardy quality. We had a bottle of red wine accompanying our meal. When my brother paid the bill the owner actually lowered the amount and gave him a shot of grappa!

This place was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Florence for 6 months out of the year. This is his favorite place to eat. It is a little off the main drag, about a 10 – 15 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio. The place is very small walking in, but has a very warm feel. There is an open kitchen, so you can see straight back and watch them cook. Our waiter didn’t speak English, so my little bit of Italian came in handy. The menu does have an English side however, so you will know what you are ordering. I had the fettuccini with ham and peas in a cream sauce. Excellent! I saw very few cream sauces that didnt include seafood while in Italy, so I was happy to try one. The pasta was homemade, and you could tell. It was cooked a perfect al dente. For my main I had the grilled rabbit. It was perfection. Great taste and cooked perfectly. My wife had meat tortellini with a tomato basil sauce. This was the best tortellini I have had in my life. She also had the fried chicken and cheese. Chunks of chicken and mozzarella cheese flash fried. Really great flavor. I really liked that Camillo had some different selections on the menu than the normal fare. I would not hesitate to return here.

Very nice restaurant, offers a variety of classic florentine dishes all of which are really well made, it’s quite crowded so reservations are a must. Special mention goes to the«Curry Shrimps», hardly florentine classics but absolutely fantastic!

My sister got married in Fiesole, outside of Florence, and we had the rehearsal dinner here(without the rehearsal, lol). They have a nice upstairs room that is quiet. The service is impeccable. They had wonderful food, especially if you love meat. Very adventurous menu balanced with classics. Also fantastic selection of wine. You will feel at home here, definitely visit. The owners are truly wonderful!

My in-laws hosted a rehearsal dinner for my brother-in-law and his fiancé. We had a party of about 20 attend. We reserved a room upstairs for our large group. We received impeccable service from their staff. My mother-in-law was able to plan this dinner via email weeks before our trip and we were able to come in the day of to finalize details and see how the room was set up. We even met with the owner that day. Everything was perfect! And, dinner that evening was amazing! I definitely recommend this restaurant.

one of the best dinners in florence. they tend to put the americans all in one room– the second room– which is kind of lame, but next time i know to ask to put me front and center so i can mingle with the locals!

A few minutes after we were seated in the early evening, a crowd of waiting diners formed at the front door. We had just serendipitiously selected this spot for dinner. So this development I felt was encouraging. I should have noted that the crowd was exclusively comprised of fellow tourists: not a good sign. I learned later that this restaurant was listed in several tour books. So the food should have been pretty good. It wasn’t. A porcini risotto was described as «Uncle Ben’s with mushrooms». My beef cutlet was nicely battered, but dry and underseasoned. Most of the dishes were just OK, but nothing stood out and a few(e.g. Uncle Ben;s) flopped.

Another atmospheric trattoria to visit in Florence. Camillo is pleasantly similar in gastronomic scope to Sostanza, or, Coco Lezzone. In fact, these three establishments make-up what should be called the ‘Holy Trinity of Trattorias’ in Florence. Well worn, well respected in Florence, Cammillo knows what they’re doing. This is a family-run operation, and they’ve done well to keep a healthy mix of locals and tourists coming through the door. The service team are seasoned professionals, efficient, a little hard at times, but, kind enough. Favourites I order include the fritto misto, a pasta dish like pappardelle, crispy roast chicken and some sort of salad. Usually finish with an espresso and grappa to wash away the sins of the world. Can’t go wrong dining here.

Their pasta is freshly made to happily serve you. Their pasta with mushroom is a divine experience. You can taste the butter with every bite you take. The best part of my dish was knowing that the pasta complimented the porcini mushrooms so well. They literally melted together in my mouth. Savory. Divine. Delish. The setting is very intimate in the restaurant. There are two small rooms and yes, this place is packed. There’s a good mix of tourists as well as locals. Staff is pretty friendly. I do recommend reservations prior to coming!

I can honestly say that, after 4 trips to Italy through innumerable cities and towns, this is the best meal I’ve ever had in this country. 4 of us came in for lunch this afternoon and were seated promptly at a cozy table. The restaurant is a series of small rooms that makes for a very intimate, comfortable dining experience. Our waiter was very friendly, and brought us a bottle of house wine and complimentary bread. The dishes we ordered were all delicious and we ended up passing forks and plates around the table so we could try everything. My dish was a duck ragu over perfectly al dente rigatoni, my brother’s a creamy sauce with peas and ham over linguine, his girlfriend had a tasty artichoke omelet, and my mom decided on a braised pork dish with fennel, chestnuts, and rosemary. So satisfying. We ended the meal with espresso and 2 desserts: a chocolate torte(my mom doesn’t even like chocolate and she loved it… not too sweet and nice and dense), and chestnut fritters with golden raisins, pine nuts, and a sweet ricotta dipping sauce. The meal came out to about 30 euro a person, which for the food, service, and ambiance is great! I would go back in a second and would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation

Alteingesessene Trattoria mit typisch Florentiner Speisekarte, sehr leckeres Essen, allerdings nicht ganz billig(Vorspeisen ab 10EUR, Hauptgerichte ab 18EUR).
