The food is very good but they DONOT take credit cards. Unilocal is wrong on that point. I would defiantly still go but take cash.

Basic but amazing food. Unlike a previous reviewer we went on a Sunday and there was a full menu. Girlfriend had a pork chop which was juicy and cooked to perfection, and I had a tagliatelle with 2 mushrooms and lot of cream. Wine was 2 € for a ¼L. A few tourists and locals were there when we visited.

We stopped in here randomly for dinner, it was Sunday so we had limited options. Great pizza, we had the 4 Stagione which is salsiccia, artichoke, mushrooms, and olives. The pizza was cooked perfectly, crispy throughout. We also had asparagus and pecorino risotto, which I assume is seasonal. House red wine was very good, but everyone else in the place seemed to be drinking beer, so I’d assume it’s a good place to go for beer. No one there spoke even minimal English, so we had to use the waitresses cell phone to do some translations, not a big deal, all part of the fun of traveling!

This is a great simple restaurant near san ambroggio, that could easily become a very convenient canteen. On the menu, you will find pizzas but also pastas. I had the pastas alla vonghole which were really good: the type of good pastas you are happy to find at the corner of your street. I have this addiction for pasta alla vonghole so i love to compare them all across Italy. The only critic i would have is that there were not many shells but besides that the sauce was great and tasty, greasy at is should be :). I now have to taste the pizzas which are good according to my friend! Next time. The restaurant itself is nice and simple, you feel at home. The service is quick, the prices are low: this is the perfect good canteen!

We were trying to find the flea market at the Piazza del Ciompi, and were doing a good job of getting lost. As we rounded a corner we passed La Ghiotta and couldn’t help but seeing the hot, fresh roasted means in the front of the restraunt, especially the whole porchetta! We were promptly seated in a small funky room in the back. The waiter was terrific at explaining how the place worked. With passable English he explained the we could either order off the menu or go to the front and see what we would like and he would get it for us. I knew I was going to get the porchetta, but when I got up front to look I saw all the other wonderful dishes. Side dishes included, Cooked mushrooms, peas, broccoli, roasted onions, roasted potatoes and on and on. As mains I saw a beautiful rare roast beef, lost of pasta dishes from lasagna to raviolis. Truly everything looked great. We ended up sharing porchetta(delicious– just a touch salty), peas(lovely), roasted onions(sweet and savory-really great) and homemade fries. Paired that with a quarttino of the house red. By the time we were halfway through the meal the place was packed, and I sensed very few tourists. We asked and were told to just go to the front and pay when we were done, no check. The cashier repeated our ordered items to us as she rang it up and the whole tab was just € 23. The said cash only. A very happy, yummy experience.

While on vacation in Florence we stumbled upon this place while looking for something cheap and easy for dinner. It was 4th of July and we just wanted some pizza and beer to feel somewhat like home so we gave it a shot. When you walk in there’s a deli counter and then towards the back there are tables with waiter service. Our waiter was so so nice and was so helpful with the menu(it was all in Italian so we needed a little assistance). He walked us through each menu item we had a question on and when he didn’t know the right word, he made the extra effort to try and explain it. We ordered a mixed salad to share and our own pizzas. This was by far the best pizza I’ve had in my entire life. I got the pizza with mozzarella, eggplant and Gorgonzola. One of my friends had the 4 cheese pizza, which was just as equally amazing. By the end, we were so full but it was so freaking good that we just couldn’t stop eating it. And it was only 6Euros for the pizza!!! They don’t have a cover charge which is hard to find in such a touristy city, which is a huge plus. This is definitely the type of place the locals hang at, so you know you aren’t walking into a tourist trap. It was so amazing to get such a delicious, unforgettable meal from a tiny little shop we just stumbled upon.
