First of all, I should say that the rooms are perfectly nice. There were some stains on the tables and the fact that you have to put your key card into a slot to get your power working is a little weird, but I have no issues with the actual rooms. My issues are with the staff and policies. I’m visiting from America and have a friend very close to the hotel, which is why I picked it. We went out to dinner and then after, went back to the room to watch TV and relax and socialize. I was told when I arrive with my key card visitors we’re not allowed into the hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel is not in the greatest of areas. I had no actual problems, but I observed some locals desecrating the outside of the hotel with their waste and sniffing something from their knuckles. I explained to the staff that my friend was not staying over and was simply stopping for a bit and he refused to let them in. He told me his manager was watching and when I asked to speak with his manager, he told me he wasn’t there. So which lie was it? I paid to stay here, I should have been allowed a guest like any other Hotel. Otherwise, the walk to the train to city centre is less than 10 minutes and there is plenty of food and shopping nearby. If not for this very negative experience last night, I would have stayed here again.

Well where can I start. Stood here over the course of two weeks because of work. The front desk staff is nice, but the restaurant crew is awful. Not an American friendly place at all. If you plan on staying here during the weekend bring ear plugs because the walls are very thin. At night you have local drunks and guest coming in running up and down the halls acting completely silly and have no curtesy whatsoever! The staff at night don’t seem to really care either. If it wasn’t because I was in a different country and didn’t know the laws I would have taken matters into my own hands. There is a club downstairs that only draws the attention of assholes so do not join that group unless you’re that desperate. To be honest just do not stay in this hotel. The beds are completely uncomfortable, the mattress is pretty much a box spring, you will wake up with a sore back every morning. Also while staying here I heard a lady was strangled to death two years ago here, that I find not surprising because of the atmosphere at night and the surrounding locals. Not the best place in Ireland. The hotel staff is currently under investigation because of car thefts, room thefts by the staff. Met the local detective and he gave me the scoop. Stay the heck away from this place!

We stayed here on vacation. It’s not the ritz but very nice and serviceable, it’s a bit dated but clean and the staff is very nice and helpful. It’s walking distance to the tram that goes into dublin. Free parking but no gym. I would stay here again.

Can’t believe this place hasn’t received many reviews yet! Oh well, I suppose most review writers are pathological complainers anyway! ;o) Nice hotel in Tallaght with a very reasonable rate. I think we paid about € 55 for a saturday night which is amazing considering the quality of the hotel. While walking up the stairs we realised there was a wedding party in full swing and were worried about the noise as our room was above it! No need to worry as once we arrived in our immaculate room the party faded into a very distant murmur so we could sleep all too well in the ridiculously comfortable beds. A more than generous 12 o’clock check out made our weekend so we plan to return as soon as the occasion arises. Huge thanks to the lovely Polish receptionist who took the time to answer all our silly questions about the area too! x

This review is for the pub-grub in Grumpy McClaffertys which is inside the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght — at lunchtime they have a € 6 special which is solid wholesome food served with a smile. You wouldn’t cook it yourself for the same price, plus generous portions.

Good hotel on the outskirts of Dublin just next to the Tallaght Shopping Centre. Plenty of parking. The hotel restaurant — The Olive Tree — is above average for this class of hotel. There is a multiplex cinema and theatre within easy walking distance of the hotel.
