Cut through this Dublin 4 park during a 15 km walk from Dublin 3 all the way down to Dun Laoghaire. Didn’t look like much at the time, just a local park with some litter.(–1 star) I guess, based on some of the other Unilocaler’s comments, that it’s a place for some of the«less desirables» to hang out … tell them not to litter!!! :-) The view of the Irish Sea from the South East part of the park is totally nice though.(+1 star)

I am incredibly lucky to have this right on my doorstep, a headland with lovely sea views and wild overgrown parkland to explore at the same time… lovely. Sometimes when I really want to shake things up I go and join the local druggies and alcoholics in the park to discuss the deeper philosophical quandaries and questions like when the fridge door closes does the light go out. A few of them having recently slept in a fridge were able to confirm that yes, the light does go out. .er… yeah, deffo only to be explored during daylight hours.

I have very mixed feelings about Sean Moore Park. My childminder used to bring me here as a kid sometimes, and myself and my brother made that big triangular granite rock the centre of our tip the can games. It is right beside the Strand so it’s a grand old place to start or end a walk on the beach, and there’s some grassy areas to relax on, some benches and nice shrubbery. Hmmm, the shrubbery is really the main problem… the bushes have long been the home of D4’s less desirable inhabitants, there’s syringes and empty beer cans strewn around willy nilly. Oh, and dog poop everywhere. Depending on the wind direction, there can be a desperate smell from teh treatment plant too, but that’s a problem that afflicts the whole of Sandymount, so it’s not really the park’s fault. Best off heading further along the strand for a stroll where there’s a cleaner and more open promenade.

The Sean Moore Park is not one of the most talked about parks in Dublin. It’s mainly popular with joggers and dog walkers as it connects to Sandymount Strand. Named after an Irish politician who grew up in nearby Irishtown, it can be a beautiful place to meet up with friends on a sunny day. It overlooks the sea and connects to some good hiking trails. Unfortunately, a lot of locals complain that teenagers are using this peaceful green as an open air bar. I say, «Ces’t la vie!» and they know a great spot when they see one.
