Why build a new racecourse when there is a perfectly good one in Limerick already? Because of the building boom! OK, enough of that cynicism. It was my second visit to the new Limerick Racecourse on this occasion and it cemented my opinion that its a fine racing establishment. It was easy to get to from the motorway and there is a handy set down area in front of the entrance, which was where we dropped my folks off before we parked the car. Inside everything is nearby. The stands, the parade ring, the betting ring, the stables, the bar. It’s layed out very well. It’s also brighly painted, no horrible cement walls and steps. Is it better than the old racecourse, you bet it is! You bet? Bet? Get it?
