Recently stayed here for a quick two nights at a friends wedding, and fell in love with the place. The hotel itself has an immense pedigree and history, reflected in the obvious opulence and quiet class all throughout the hotel, both in the physical décor and atmosphere. The hotel was an old nuns convent back in its time and with it’s massive halls ways and gardens you could walk around for hours! The food at the wedding was second to none, and the staff where super friendly! I would defiantly love to stay here again and maybe check out the spa on my next stay!

It was acceptable in the 80’s…were my thoughts when I walked first stepped in to Killashees main bar a couple of years ago. It’s big and bold with disco balls and lots of plants covered in twinkling blue lights. You could be forgiven for thinking you have walked into Christmas 20 years ago. Faux ivy and velvet wall panels compete the gaudy look, but strangely enough though i still kinda love it. The hotel though is old and beautiful from the outside and pretty as a picture. Basically a bride’s dream for her photo album as you can see from the many wedding parties around you. This was our first time for food and unfortunately it came out cold. Was only lunchtime sandwiches though so will try again but for dinner. Hopefully they heat things up later on in the evening!

I stayed here recently for a night with family, to be honest it was ok, nothing special and for the cost it was just about ok. The food was decent and the bar service was good but there was confusion with our booking and I can’t forgive them for the extended wait for my morning coffee!!! The grounds are beautiful and I could imagine it being a beautiful setting for a wedding but I can’t see it offering anything extra.

this is just an update on my last review. I came here 2 days ago with my mother. We used to be huge fans and have been disappointed on ever visit in the last 6 years. Yet like fools we keep trying. The service was ok, I went to the bar and found a waitress, gave her my order yet she said she had to come to my table to take it, so I returned and 10 minutes later she arrived to take the order I had already given her. What??? are you daft ??? She did not notice the Iorny of this. 2 drinks was 17 euro. When I wanted to pay I had to try to get her attention as her and the hostess were in deep conversation. I have not forgiven Kilashee for closing the nuns kitchen, however its a new owner now and I was informed that they have opened a new bar, different from this Jacks bar and its very nice. I couldn’t find it but reception advised me that it only opens Friday and Saturday’s. OMG no matter how hard I try I cant give this place the love I once had for it. Crap service, expensive drinks, loud when its busy today was not. and a bar that only opens 2 days a week, what next. Bring back the old Killashee House Hotel, it was much better.

Just spent 2 great nights in this hotel. I’ve actually gigged at weddings, but never stayed over. I had the pleasure of being here for my best friend wedding. We stayed in the old house, with I believe used to be occupied by nuns! I had the pleasure of staying in the ‘Abbey’ suite, although I didn’t really get to see the room much as we spent most of the time at the bar… as Irish weddings go ;) The hotel manager Caroline was brilliant, constantly looking after the whole wedding party throughout the weekend. For the 20 of us that stayed on for the Sunday night, we dined in ‘Jacks’ bar and had some really nice dishes. Managed one more pint of Guinness before heading to bed… thank god I don’t have to work tomorrow :)
