Nevins Newfield Inn

What a great experience! In the middle of the road hides this incredible Bar Food, Restaurant, Pub.
We were tired and looking for some place to have dinner and luckily we got there.
The food was really good, and the waiters were very nice and always attentive to us.
Definitely a great place to go!
And they also have accommodation!

Situated on the main road N59 road between Newport and Mulrany… it’s like an oasis in the desert… just when you had given up hope of ever seeing a sizzling chicken dish again for 14.99 with chips included, there springs the restaurant /​Bar /​hotel (well, B&B anyway), the ample yet dodgy looking roadside parking is close enough so that you can make that last vital crawl /​dash from your car and be closeted in a booth with a pint and a meal in front of you in jig time. Life saving to be sure.
The menu is small enough not to confuse the hungry traveller but varies enough so that you’ll want for nothing… really, beside the traditional bacon and cabbage was an Asian inspired sizzling chicken dish… I couldn’t resist… and it was good! (could have done with a few more chips though!).
High-​chairs, as well as being a convenient way for parents to control and entrap their progeny are also handy when it comes to feeding time, the moment our little erm. tyke was spotted one of the waitresses brought one of the blessed chairs over to us, child secured we ate our meal in peace and very much enjoyed the wonderful and not too over priced food.
Child portions were served at 4.99, «money well spent» I thought as my son threw another fish finger onto my glass of wine.

A nice place with nice people!
It’s a pub, so there are lots of fried things & grease, but it’s generally pretty good. The margarita pizza wasn’t very good (bland) but my family & I were happy with everything else. The fish & chips were great, the mussels got a rave review, the tuna melt was voted best tuna melt in a restaurant by my mom, brother, & husband, the stir fry was delicious, & the veggie omlet was greasy but huge & tasty. I also loved their soup & think their brown bread is outstanding.
It bears mentioning that backing out of their parking lot onto a curve of highway is freaking terrifying. They should at leat put a mirror across the street so you can see what’s tearing around the bend.
