One of my favorite stops during my trip. We went for lunch and I had the Fish Pie(one of their daily specials) with some Elderflower Lemonade. Delicious. Take away coffee was a plus. Prices were very affordable, service was good. They’ve got a wonderful patio as well. 5⁄5 Experience and the food was PERFECT.

Nice to sit out in the sun especially with blankets. Table was rocky and only found out later there were wedges on the floor but not in situ. Food was as expected. Good service nice atmosphere. Price ranges sandwiches 7 to 10 E. Mains from 10 average 12

Went there for coffee and brunch. Had the carrot cake along with my Americano — honestly one of the beat carrot cakes I ever tried. The balance between the carrot and the sugar was perfect. Had the cinnamon toasts with poached eggs for brunch — the eggs were perfectly cooked and I was able to get more maple syrup. The staff is absolutely lovely!

Kindaaa Averrrrrrrage. Harsh I know, but that’s all it is to me. I only ever come here if I’m too lazy to queue in Avoca. Last time I got baked eggs. They were nice, but nothing spectacular. I like the staff a lot, so i wish I had kinder words. Just doesn’t do it for me. Ooooo actually. For just coffees and cakes in the sun. This place is perfect. Coffees are gudd and cakes are yum. Lovely seats out front. You could chill all day. Sippin espressos and sparkling water, watching the world go by :)

I have been meaning to go here again and again but for some reason never do. Absolutely starving, I arrived and was disappointed to find no table outside which I guess is a good sign. As I perused the menu, deciding between the many all-day brunch items and the lasagne special, about six waitresses faffed around me, each asking whether I wanted to order/had been served/was ok. They were all friendly, but it seemed a bit disorganised as no one appeared to have sections. I was on my own so didn’t mind too much but had I been trying to talk to someone, it may have got a little irritating. My food took a while to come, but it was really busy, and when it did I was happy. It was pretty standard, run of the mill fare, but tasty and to be honest I got exactly what I expected, so I can’t complain. Overall, this place has a really nice atmosphere; casual with no airs and graces, it serves good food for a good price and friendly albeit a bit all over the place staff. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I’ve bn meaning to stop here like 101 times… Finally did yesterday! Impressed… It’s a lot bigger inside than expected plenty of seating and as the name goes, the décor is books, bookshelves and script wall paper! Menu is packed with café regulars yet variety of healthy choices, did I mention wine too ;-) !!! Staff were very friendly, though in ordering my fries were forgotten! They must have known my diet guilt was festering! Out arrived a delicious Cajun chicken ciabatta with lovely side salad though my fries were no where to be seen however politely after a min or two waitress approached to say chips on the way and well, they took another 5 mins or so… Nice cover up though!!! Reasonable with decent eat plus sparkling water € 13 and pleasantly stuffed! For me, they’ve a lot of bench seats which I find are actually too high up for the tables so made it a smidge uncomfortable particularly as I was there for a relaxing eat & read of a book — will opt for chair seating next time… Oh oh oh!!! Note they have decent outdoor seating space and it’s a sun trap during the day — perfect summer day to unwind with friends

Big fan of the all day breakfast, delicious eggs benedict. The interior is stylish but comfy and it is also quite pocket-friendly.

This is a really gorgeous place to go for Sunday brunch… orrrrrr for an off-the-wall, melt-in-your-mouth, oh-good-lord-this-is-mind-blowing Toblerone cheesecake. The décor is gorgeous and quaint, and staff are even nicer. This place really shows Irish hospitality at its best! Definitely worth the treck out.

Good value vegetarian breakfast @ 7.75! Relaxed atmosphere, a great place to spend some time from morning(all day breakfasts) through lunch(omelettes, bagels, all day breakfast) to late afternoon(tea and scones, or all day breakfast). Café du Journal also sell some of their products to take homebut I’m quite happy to be waited on instead.

I have been to this café a few times for lunch(out of convenience more than anything). Overall the food is ok and not overly expensive when compared with nearby cafes. On the last visit the Chicken cesar wrap was tasty but the vegetable soup was very bland and tasted like it had been made without stock. Two things that also annoyed me were the high bench seats inside and the condition of the toilets. Dirty toilets in a café are just not acceptable and that has lost them the 3* from me anyway.

It has been a while since I had been here so thought it time for a review. I had breakfast and it was excellent at € 9 the staff are nice but can be a little slow and even slower while you are waiting to pay… strangely. No matter a great place to eat.
