Gorgeously cosy little spot a few minutes drive from the breathtaking Glendalough. After a three hour hike up around the hills of Glendalough, you’re always gonna be a lot exhilarated, but also a little cold, a little tired, a lot in need of a hot drink and some food on your belly. The Wicklow Heathers is a bustling little spot — there was a wait of about 20 minutes when we got there yesterday afternoon(a Sunday), but trust me it’s so worth it. It’s very much a country restaurant — lots of wood and knick knacks and warm lighting. A diverse menu but out of six of us at the table, not one of us got something that wasn’t of high standard. Haddock and chips seemed to come out the winner all up though — two huge pieces on a plate with homemade tartare sauce and fresh garden peas, with a fine helping of chunky chips on the side. The staff are so friendly here, it’s a real sink-into-your-seat-and-sigh type spot. I’ll be back no doubt, having earned my meal up those hills once again.

If you’re in the area and famished, The Wicklow Heather is the right place to enjoy a lunch or dinner. We happened to catch a sunny day and had a wonderful lunch outside. My wife loved the salad with chili glazed chicken and my fish and chips was generously portioned and tasty — even the peas! As a finer touch, the kind people offered my wife a blanket when they noticed she’d become chilly… their kindness certainly wasn’t lost on us. Thanks for a great lunch!

We’d heard about this place and decided to check it out. We only had dessert — an apple and summer berry crumble. It came with a little ice cream and whipped cream. Custard was infused into the crumble. It was nicely presented but the crumble had the unmistakable flavor of freezer burn. On the basis of just this dish, we’d give the restaurant middling scores. Atmosphere was delightful.

YES, YES, YES to this place! We sat outside on the patio, it was lovely. The food was some of the best on our entire trip and it was reasonably priced as well. Service was a bit slow but we encountered that nearly everywhere we went in Ireland. Besides, why does it matter when you have the chance to take in such gorgeous surrounding views. Every dish we ordered here was exceptional, but I would say the plate to get is the corned beef. Do yourself a favor and stop by Wicklow Heathers for an exceptional meal.

Absolutely amazing. The beef daube and the steak are perfection sculpted from meat. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I seriously recommend the gravy with the steak, it will make a good day into a great one. Stop in anytime you are in Wicklow, Ireland!

A good place to stop on the way back to Dublin and after having visted the Glendalough area. If you went for the hike there, this place will offer you all the comforts you are looking for — warmth, food, beer, tea, coffee or hot whiskey. The interior is kind of old and quirky, it can also be a little dim after having spend the whole day outside. Neverthesless a good tavern for any questing traveller to stop and replenish yout HP.

I had a great lunch on Paddy’s day in Wicklow Heather with my boyfriend. I am very demanding with Restaurants in all aspects and I can assure this one was excellent! from the cleanliness of the place, impeccable really(which is very important to me, great medieval decoration, the food was soo good, Irish dishes, very freshly cooked and well presented(the greatest bread and butter pudding). The place was packed and even though they were very fast and efficient, friendly and professional. I highly recommended it, in fact I have already told all my friends. I am definitely going back.

Absolutely gorgeous, cosy, warm and welcoming pub/restaurant in the lovely village of Laragh. But — best of all — it serves truly amazing food. Recently a group of walking friends — 18 of us in total — had the pleasure of lunch in the Wicklow Heather following a nice morning’s walk in the forest area of the nearby Vale of Clara. While we did book in advance, and all of us had a whole variety of different lunches, from scones and tea, to sandwiches, soup, chowder, lasagne, salads etc — the service and standard of food was second to none. Personally, I can truly say that the seafood chowder which I had was the very best chowder I have ever been served. Judging by the packed car park and huge number of people having lunch, this place is obviously renowned — and this was a damp and dreary Monday — what more can I say!

Beautiful older historic looking restaurant. The day we were here, the weather was amazing. There were a lot of motorcycle riders out for the day, dining here. The food, was simple but amazing. Customer service was top notch all the round. This is a restaurant if you find yourself in the area, you must stop, sit down, order a pint, then order your food and relax and enjoy. It has that vibe to it.

A nice cozy atmosphere with fantastic food. The braised lamb shank was very flavorful and the french onion soup was excellent. I couldn’t stop trying to steal my wife’s garlic potatoes.

#OMG this is such a great #restaurant ! @wicklowheather doesn’t disappoint at all, delicious food(I love the venison sausage for starter or pil pil; venison loin for main — nothing can top that!!), nice location and very polite staff! The best is the chauffeur service they offer to guests from B&B’s in the area, so everyone can enjoy a glass of vino or a nice pint! And it’s FREE of charge!

What a lovely restaurant. We arrived to a busy crowd and hadn’t booked a table, but we were more than looked after. The food was incredible. Everything was cooked perfectly, all the meat was tender and juicy & my mouth is watering again now thinking about it. The service was prompt & extremely friendly. We even got a lift back to our B&B from the lovely Betty. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening after a day hiking
