Stopped in at The Château for some breakfast(family of 4). It’s a very standard but friendly breakfast diner attached to a small shopping arcade. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is exactly what you’d expect — home cooked and straight off the gridle. I had the breakfast special which was essentially the ‘full Irish breakfast’ and would recommend it to anyone who wants a quick inexpensive and tasty cooked breakfast. The interior is clean but tired and has a ‘working mans diner’ feel to it but if you can overlook this you can be assured of a decent breakfast !

Note: all my recent vacation in Ireland Unilocal reviews will have the same 1st paragraph preamble, for just the review itself skip to the 2nd paragraph. On a whirlwind 2 week vacation to Ireland, the girlfriend & I tried to see & experience absolutely as much of this incredible land as we could. We did not accomplish every last activity we wished we could have on our rather ambitious itinerary. Nonetheless, we did discover a land of numerous stunning & magical wonders. We did see a land of unending natural beauty. We did learn of a land with a monumentally long history of trials, tragedies & triumphs. We did get to meet many kind, humorous, warm & generous people. Our vacation to Ireland was just 2 weeks, but that was time enough to know this is a land easy to love & a land to be sorely missed. As the old adage goes, «when in Rome, do as the Romans do.» For me, a variant philosophy of this phrase that I like to live by is «when traveling, eat where the locals eat.» Our 1st morning in Killarney, the girlfriend & I went down to city center to get some breakfast & found Château Café. Tucked into a shopping arcade next to a grocery, Château Café did take some finding as we walked right by it before seeing it. Inside was a comfortable but no-frills eatery. The girlfriend & I both ordered the Jumbo Breakfast(3 sausage, 2 rashers, black & white puddings, egg, toast, beans, chips, OJ& coffee(or tea)) from a cafeteria-style counter. Our orders were brought to our table shortly & it was a seriously big & hearty breakfast. All of it was good & very satisfying, too satisfying perhaps as we both fought food coma the rest of the morning. Not being a tourist spot, our food was cheaper than anywhere else in town we had seen. We ate breakfast here again during our stay in Killarney & even grabbed Breakfast Sandwich & Sweet Chili Chicken sandwich takeaway for one of our long road trip sightseeing days. Again, everything was good & cheap. Château Café was our go-to spot for breakfast & takeaway in Killarney.
