When we think of fabulous food we think of here. It’s been a long time since we were last here and this visit just reconfirmed our view. Fabulous, classically cooked food. Great service most of the time too but the place can be so busy this can slip. If you are thinking this type of business is for you; that you’ve got what it takes to deliver, just visit to eat here a few times. You’ll learn a lot. The largely young staff here are rushed off their feet yet they retain a friendly charm. I’ve never seen them any other way. I’ve no doubt they sleep well when they get home. We turned up to a full car park and a super busy lunch service. We were walked to our table by a friendly lady called Clare, in fact the only face we recognised from our last visit. My wife ordered the beef pancakes to start — a twist on Chinese duck pancakes. The sauce coating the meat was tangy and the meat tasty. The hoi sin sauce on the side was tangy — it has an amazing flavour for a fat free sauce. Next time we’ll ask for a little bit of honey to thin out the hoi sin, that’s just personal taste that works for us. I ordered the seafood chowder. I can never pass up the chowder as its so darn fabulous. I could eat it every day. The wheaten bread on the side was as good as ever too, as were the selection of home made breads. Then a roast beef main with a deep full flavoured beef and a crackin light, tasty Yorkshire pudding. I had the John Dory or St Pierre/Peters fish for main(the fish has a dark spot that looks like a thumb print at the side of its face where St Peter brought this species to Jesus on command.) St Peter is the patron saint of fishermen. The fillets were served perfectly cooked and seasoned with three delicious lightly poached queen scallops beneath, with asparagus and while it was meant to be served with a white wine sauce I’d spotted a hollandaise sauce offered with a fishcake starter, so I asked for and got that and it was excellent. I dipped my asparagus into the sauce. It was devine. As usual we were to full up to enjoy desserts. Debated sharing one for a while too but sense took over. Darn it so we had a latte and a cappuccino. We sat near a few generations of a French family, five of them. Now they were impressed with the food in front of them. I know enough French to know they were delighted with their food and they talked a lot about the flavours and textures.

This place is amazing but expect a Wait bc it’s the first place on M1 north of Dublin for food. If there’s only 2’in party you can sit at bar and at as well. Staff very friendly. Bar man was friendly and tentative. I had wigs — good. The seafood bisque was out of his world.

Stopped in here on the way home from Dublin and would definitely recommend to anyone. The atmosphere is really great and the food is delicious and more than a generous portion! We had the fillet steak and the fish and chips — both were great! We will definitely come back

A fun and kitschy place. We arrived just after serving time at 9:35 pm but they were accommodating allowing ordering from starters and desserts. We had the mixed seafood«fish & chips» style with a salad instead of chips. It was fried perfectly and served on forks in a standing up fashion. See picture. We also had the shrimp scampi which was served with a bit of rice in a white cream sauce spiced with coriander and chili. It was delicious. I finished with a chocolate chip cookie. It was rather large but suffered from tasting like it sat in the cooler too long. I should’ve gone for the fruit pie!

Touristic, expensive, Oirish bar, with excessive amount of clutter adorning every nook and cranny, a la Johnny Fox’s(except worse). Many life-sized creepy dolls are lying about the car park. Perfect fighting material, if you get really drunk and they look at you in a way that angers you. Ate an overcooked and overpriced steak, drank some nice beer and watched a bit of footie, with a stag party. You’d be better off driving a few more kilometers into the beautiful Carlingford village, which has many fine bars. Probably good for a big family afternoon outing but I won’t bother going there myself again.

Fitzpatrick’s Bar & Restaurant, Co. Louth — 16 February 2012 What an excellent experience we had here, and well worth the drive across from Virginia, before we headed onto Dublin,(following a recommendation). We arrived mid-afternoon and there was still a number of tourists, families, and couples like ourselves, keeping it busy. While awaiting our order, my wife had a glass of wine and I a soft drink and looked about at all the range of antiques that hang from the rafters, and across numerous shelves; mementos of lifetimes now gone by. We chose from the specials menu and on being advised one would take a while, we were treated to an amuse-bouche, a pleasant glass-mug of soup and fresh parsley, a nice touch. My wife’s breast of chicken came with the skin crisped, on a bed of cabbage and bacon, atop a bed of champ, surrounded by a mustard sauce. Mine was the pan-fried hake, topped by a crisp slice of parma ham, and two solitary scallops, surrounded this time by what seemed like a light pea sauce. Two little novelty iron pots of creamy mash and a medley of fresh mange-tout, green beans and broccoli made this meal just superb. This was cuisine superb Messrs Fitzpatrick. With no room for desserts, 2 americano coffees were served with 4 complimentary liqueur dark chocolates, heavenly. Our bill was just € 41.60, value beyond belief. Can’t wait to divert this way again.

Hi Guys, went with my partner and baby daughter to Fitzpatricks yesterday, although im from Dundalk never had been there till yesterday! Well you are greeted by masses of beautiful flowers in an array of interesting beds! You can see the owners spend a fortune on making the outside look beautiful! You can also bring your pets where there is a safe enclosure to leave them in while you enjoy your food and drink, on the inside there is a real olde irish family feel, with couches by the fireplace and olde style chairs. As it was in the afternoon on wed I was suprised how busy the place was! also another point there was so much staff also which led to really quick and professional service, the food was beautiful and portion sizes perfect, although I did find my dessert was bigger than what I was used to in restaurants but it was definetely a home made cheesecake! Staff were very friendly but i was disappointed they didnt offer me a high chair for my daughter as she is 6 months and this led to me to spoon feed her on my knee which as you can imagine is quite messy! The cost of the meal was reasonable for what we ordered. Apart from the lack of highchair I would recommend highly to everyone, lovely ambience and friendly staff with positive attitudes, plenty of parking. Fitzpatricks encapsulates what we irish are known for Exceptional Hospitality and Beautiful Surroundings!

My brother-in-law recommended this place and I’m still dreaming of their creamy seafood chowder. Probably the best I’ve had, honestly. This is a cozy, memorbilia-filled place. They are known for their chowder(€ 7.50) as well as the thick brown bread that accompanies their soups. I sampled some of my sister’s garlic prawn salad(€ 8.95) as well. Very flavorful and a large portion, even though it was touted as a «starter» salad. There were 4 of us dining and our meals plus drinks came to around € 56. We purchased a loaf of the brown bread for € 7. I look forward to dining here again. Great atmosphere here as well.
