Eyre Square(aka: John F. Kennedy Memorial Park) is a small, grassy public park located in the city center of Galway, Ireland. Many shops and restaurants surround this public square. Noteworthy sights in the park include: 1. A portrait bust of JFK.(He made a speech in the park in 1963. 2. The Browne family mansion doorway(1627) 3. A statue of Liam Mellows located in the parking lot east of the Browne Doorway. 4. Quincentennial Fountain(1984) FUNFACT: When I first read about Eyre Square I discovered that the Quincentennial Fountain in the center of the square represents the«Galway Hooker».(No, not that type of hooker!) The«Galway Hooker» is a traditional fishing boat that is indigenous to Galway, Ireland.
