Best pub in dundrum by yards. food is always spot on and the staff and attention to detail in the drinks is well above par. if your looking for a relaxed drink in Dundrum Ryans dundrum house is in my opinion the best for value, quality and service.

Nice pub for lunch or a quiet drink away from the hustle and bustle of Dundrum Town Centre. ‘Traditional’ bar on on the left but bright, modern lounge on the left. Good lunch menu and the staff are always helpful. On Dundrum Main Street between the Dundrum and Ballally Luas stops but always seems to be an oasis of calm during the day.

A bar on the main street Dundrum. You wouldn’t know that Harvey Nick’s is just across the road. Feels like the décor in this place hasn’t changed for decades: it has quite an acceptable ‘old man pub’ feel to it. There are two sections– one is a bar, the other a lounge, which has some tatty plush furniture which is comfortable, and in general has quite a calm and quiet vibe. Price is about right, however I had the wine which was, even for pub wine, vile.(I drank it anyway…) On the next round I got a whiskey, which was much better but I think it was a bit of a scabby serving. Service is great– we were being hassled by a sozzled old man and the bartender guy just looked at us and politely got rid of him. Not bad at all.

Arthur’s Day is a great time of year, when we send lots of cards, get a massive dinner ready, watching hilariously bad movies and gather together to celebrate the miraculous birth of Arthur Guinness in a manger at James’ Gate. My place of worship that day was in Dundrum House. For starters, there are 2 sections in this place that are worlds apart! There’s the section on the left which seems to have gotten stuck somewhere in the 80’s and only 5 people and a newspaper made this particular section less empty. The other, slightly trendier section was quite nice indeed. This is where I spent most of the evening. For starters, the service was great. It’s always nice to go somewhere where people take pride in their work. My only problem was the fact that they didn’t really have any entertainment organised… Well, to be fair, they had someone playing a few tunes who had packed up by about 9pm. This was ever so slightly disappointing, it would have been nice to at least have the guy play a little longer, or even just a few nice tunes in the background. The pub itself is located just at the crossroads in Dundrum Village. It’s quite well placed if you ask me, and perfect if you live in the area and just fancy getting out of the house for a bit and having a pint.

I got two good reasons to like the Dundrum House: 1– it’s not in the city centre so there is very few tourists and 2– the pints here are pretty cheap(just over 4 squids). Added to that it’s nice and quiet and it’s a great place to watch the Rugby. The décor is nice and aims for comfortable as opposed to trendy, which is a nice change from most other places. The Dundrum House is pretty much your standard local, but in a good way. The only downside is that it’s a fair bit away from where I live so it’s hard to get to, but well worth it.

Situated right in the middle of Dundrum is the Dundrum house, a pub of course! Like most other older pubs in the area there are two parts to this pub the old man half on the left and the bigger section for the rest of the general population on the right! I always smile at the difference between the two halves in this pub, in most places the décor is kind of the same or at least of the same standard, in the Dundrum house the bigger bit is nicely furnished and looks bright and modern(ish) but the old man half is less done up and looks like it was left behind about 10 years ago but I suppose this adds to the old man feeling of the place!
