I’m always delighted when I discover a band/comedian I want to see is performing in Vicar Street. The sound in the venue is fabulous, and it’s a nice intimate size that still manages to hold quite a large crowd. It’s easy to get around the large standing area as there’s actually a hallway behind the stage where some of the bathrooms are situated, meaning you can move to the other side without having to squeeze through the crowd! As a music venue it’s a fantastic spot. You can be almost guaranteed a good view of whoever you are seeing, and the acoustics are excellent. I’ve seen a wide variety of performers here(Brand New, Lana Del Rey, Yann Tiersann, Children of Bodom for example) and all of their different sounds have worked really well at Vicar Street. Vicar Street is a really popular spot for big-name comedians too! Over the years I’ve seen lots of different comedians here & again it’s the perfect size and shape for this kind of show. For comedy shows the standing space is filled with tables that hold about 4 people each. This is a really nice contrast to other venues where you might have to put your drink on the floor or whatever. It’s a bit more sociable too I think than rows of seats! There are two bars within Vicar Street as far as I’m aware — the main one being at the front. It’s quite spacious but often very busy. Love the big bronze Teddy Bear sculpture inside! There is then another much smaller bar that’s only open sometimes in behind the stage, this one’s usually quiet enough so it’s really handy if you want to grab a quick drink mid-performance!

Great bar. Great layout. Shows are always brilliant. Not much variety in cocktails and bad location considering public transport.

This is one of my favourite concert venues. It’s small and compact and its easy to see the stage from anywhere you’re sitting. It’s also only a small walk from Dame St which is really handy. Small word of advise, there are no nice restaurants surrounding it(except for Greasy Take-Aways) so if you’re planning on heading out for a nice meal beforehand, eat in the city centre first.

Love this place, it’s the only really place to see a good stand up comic. Great seating full bar and a short walk to the centre of Dublin if you wish to continue your night out. Tickets for gigs are always easy to get your hands on and parking close by if needed.

Went to see Neil Delemere. We got a table in the second row which was great as it was so close to the stage but it was a pity the seats had no back as my back/neck was in bits by the end of it, having to look up the whole time. Besides that the venue is excellent, large bar designed with quick service in mind, especially during any breaks in shows. Large amount of security and staff present but everyone I spoke to was very nice. Next time I would get a seat on the balcony or at the back as they look more comfortable.

A great venue for gigs, wether bands or comedy etc. Especially when configured for their«Cabaret» seating. My only problem with it, is it’s so far up town. Have seen some great gigs here & they all have one thing in common — intimacy. No matter who you’re here to see — Des Bishop or the Dropkick Murphys, the view of the stage & sense of involvement is ever present.

Saw Dylon Moran here in Oct and it was just amazing. Good vibe all round and even though we didn’t have the best seats we could hear and see everything going on onstage. Drinks were rather pricey though so I’d advise if you’re planning to drink bring a little extra in case.

Un pequeño teatro en Dublín, muy bueno para pequeños conciertos donde pasar un rato agradable. Algo oscuro, pero de fácil acceso y muy fácil de encontrar. Suelen ir pequeños grupos que están empezando a despuntar.

Vicars street is in my mind the perfect gig venue. Ok so maybe the toilets are not great, but I have been in a lot worse. What makes it 5⁄5 for me? A decent bar you can get a drink in quickly. A perfect size music venue(not to big, not to small) Great acoustics Great location good vibe. Thats all I want in a music venue and thats what it gives. I’ve seen Tim Minchen, Andrew Maxwell and I am very much looking forward to seeing Therapy in March!

Vicars street is a great music venue. I never fail to have a good time here. On this occasion we went to see Tim Minchin, so funny. Honestly, if you get the chance, go see him. The only reason I take a star away is for the toilets, they are far away and there are always queues. But I guess that’s what happens at the interval in a gig joint. The sound here is very good and the atmosphere from the audience is enhanced by the place I think. Staff are nice too, even the security :)

This is a really good music location in Dublin. Some of the best musicians in Dublin play here. This is my favourite music venue in Dublin, without a doubt. The staff are friendly and the Guinness is good also.

I’m so happy that I chose to bring in the New Year at Vicar Street! It was perfectly arranged so no queues to get in or at the bar, friendly doormen, happy staff and a joyful atmosphere. Not only was the venue packed to just the right level and snug(important when it’s snowing outside), Jerry Fish and the Mudbug club had the place roaring. They threw in a fantastic support band, circus acts including a ribbon gymnast(which I didn’t realize the venue could support) and free champagne and pints of Guinness handed off the stage. The lighting, stage and sound were perfect and everyone, including the staff, were having a raucous time. It’s got to be my best New Year ever — no leery drunks, no queues, no smashed glass — just rip-roaring fun. It affirmed my belief that this is the best music venue in Dublin. I’ve yet to see comedy here, but it’s on my to-do list for sure. Happy New Year!

I thought Vicar Street venue was a great place to host a comedy show. The acoustics are brilliant with perfect sound no matter where you’re sitting(or standing) within the place, and come to think of it you get a perfect view from anywhere too! There is a table section on the lower part beneath the stage, and then fold-out seats all along the upstairs balcony. Even when everywhere is full there are still loads of places to stand! You can bring your drinks from the bar in with you which is a nice change. I thought the staff were really helpful because we had a slight mix-up with our tickets and they sorted it out for us straight away with no problem! Truly a great venue!

Firmly established as one of the cities best live music venues, Vicar Street is a little larger than the Village and excellently kitted-out. I have only seen one gig here and I remember being really impressed with the lay out, use of space and set-up. There were lots of little tables to sit at by the stage and a balcony to stand on and a bar. Vicar street plays host to a wide range of international music and comedy acts each night!

This is my favourite venue in the city. I like the atmosphere of intimacy that it markets itself on. When I pay for an expensive concert ticket I don’t want to see a stick figure on stage, I want to feel like they are performing in my sitting room, I get that here. I went to see a folk singer recently and just having the choice to sit down at a table with a pint and not feel squashed or scared that a drunk would puke on me was a treasured thing. The bar is a relaxing bustling spot to catch another drink afterwards. Everyone seems so relaxed due to the atmosphere, so relaxed in fact that it is the venue that I made two great friends. I was asked to guard their coats then we ended up chatting and one of them who is South African invited me back to hers for a party, which involved absinthe. Thank you Vicar street for attracting a relaxed crowd that is there for the music and company!

Vicar Street is a great venue for comedy and music gigs. It is big enough to host decent acts but small enough to make you feel like you were actually in the same room as them. Depending on the gig, Vicar Street has tables and chairs or standing room in the central ‘pit’ area and rows of seating along the three walls facing the stage. Whether sitting or standing, being in the central pit makes you feel closer to the act. I’ve seen Dara O’Briain, Rodrigo y Gabriela, David Kitt and Duke Special here and the atmosphere was energetic and intimate for all performances(well, maybe less intimacy and more laughter for Dara!). Duke Special came down into the crowd and formed a full-on marching band procession through the audience. Some more mature acts still dripping in street-cred, such as Marianne Faithful, Neil Young and Christy Moore have also passed through its doors. Vicar Street has a buzzing bar that you can pop into before or after the show and you might just be lucky enough to spot the band in there supping on their pints too!

Vicar Street is a really cool concert venue that attracts all kinds of bands. They’ve had both trad bands and foreign heavy metal acts. Tickets can be a bit expensive but you’re promised a fun night. There’s a decent-priced bar and you can bring your drinks into the actual venue as well. We stood in the back row(there were seats behind us as well) the last time and had no problem seeing the stage as it appears to be pretty high up. The sound quality is amazingly good. Definitely recommend seeing bands here.

Vicker Street is an intimate venue quite close to Temple Bar. It generally plays host to comedy gigs but also has some concerts there too. There is a bar & lounge area where you can get your drinks and relax before going into the auditorium for the main performance. the venue has a designated smoking spot outside a side entrance and you can get in and out with ease(no bouncers chasing you with a stamp for your hand!!)
