This place won me over with its excellent smoking room. Feels like you’re outside but still warm and cosy.

I’m not a huge fan of the downstairs dancey portion of the pub but upstairs is a nice pub to sit back and enjoy one of the good pints they have on selection. I would also recommend the food, though it is a bit pricey. This is a great place for a social hangout as the tables are large enough to fit a few people at them. Sit around, have a few beers, and enjoy this pub in temple bar.

In the corner of temple bar, Turks Head is a pub that’s offers a great amount of selected beers very well poured and a little bit more expensive than others pubs in the zone. The decoration is not the typical decoration you can find I other pubs and it is very nice.

Such a fun place to be and the staff is so amazing! They are very attentive and go out of their way to help the customers. Thanks for making my experience here in Ireland a memorable one making me want to return.

Big comfortable smoking area, strong Irish coffee and good location at the end of the temple bar.

I like the Turks head. Always quiet in the daytime which a true Dub will tell you is a God-send when you’re in/near Temple Bar & in need of a tourist free brew. To pitchers, but only of Fosters & there’s always cool stuff going on. Most recent visit included some sort of brass band playing the sounds of The Specials & Madness.

We stumbled upon this bar early in the day and only a few patrons were inside. At first glance, I was in love with the décor. It is a great earthy and cirque du soleil mix. I would imagine that they could easily play this up at night as a dance club but since I was there during the day, I got to appreciate the strange in full light. The bar tender was very friendly and eager to help us select a local beer that we had not yet tried on our trip. Plus they give a small piece of candy for each pint purchased! Now I cannot attest to this bar in the late afternoon and evening, but it is a great spot to grab a quick pint before your guided tour of Dublin Castle. Friendly, a little trippy but a lot of fun to admire. Weekend price was 4Euro a pint with a drink special for 5. It was a dark and stormy that day but alas, I did not have a chance to try it! Next time I’m in the neighborhood.

It’s a bit surreal to be here sober. I remember the mosaic tiled walls, but I think they were in motion the last time I saw them! We were just grabbing a pint on a Friday evening and everywhere else was packed… this place is just so dark that you don’t feel like you should be in it while sober, but at least we got a table and seats!

Went here for a couchsurfing meetup, which was held downstairs just for us. The bar upstairs is massive and pretty sure takes up more than the standing room. But downstairs was really well spaced out and the décor is really cool. Its very dark downstairs, but also has its own bar. 12 € pitchers of beer which is pretty good value for temple bar in dublin. I really like their smoking area, cause its like apart of the bar, but isn’t(probably makes no sense!) But overall an alright pub, decent prices in centre of town.

Decent place to have a few drinks on a weekend afternoon. During certain hours they have craft pints for € 5 which is great for being located in Temple Bar. A few tv’s to watch a bit of sports. Not a bad day out.

I go here pretty often and I always have a good time. Bar staff is usually friendly and so are the door staff(but don’t expect to get in if you’re hammered). Drinks aren’t too expensive, live music is good, sometimes outdoor seating available. All in all a great time. Favorite item: carlsberg

Guinness suppose to be a landmark and national drink for irish people, but if you are travel from outside ireland and looking for one of those black magic then SORRYTHISISNOTTHEPLACETOBE, Staff seems clueless about how to pull a normal pint Guinness! And most important thing is their Guinness taste really like gone off!

Only worth a visit on the weekend before 8pm(all pints are 3e50, and they’ve staropramen on tap), so a decent venue for watching matches in the afternoon/evening. I make sure to get the hell out as soon as 8pm arrives though… any later and it gets needlessly loud and pints get pricey. Steer clear of the«club» too, it can got post-apocalyptic down there. Also wins the award for the most sullen, depressed barmen too — chin up lads, there’s 3e50 pints on saturdays!

First time I went here it was Arthur’s Day and I swore I would never go back after seeing some people having sex in one corner and 3 different guys peeing in various different corners(some onto peoples jackets). Last night I went back. Drink deals are the only redeeming factor. Too crowded, the feeling that you might get robed, stabbed, or molested always hangs around. Confusing to get around too, I swear I walked back the same way and I ended up in a whole different room.

I’m surprised to see so many negative reviews of this place. I personally love the Turks Head. Whenever I am out and about in or around Temple Bar I make sure to stop in for a pint or two. There is always a good crowd and music going. They also have no cover charge, which is a great reason to at least stop by and see who is inside sure. They have a large dance area, multiple bars so you are never left waiting too long, and are located right near everything in Temple Bar. Some may think it is a bit creepy, but sure, I must admit I like my clubs a bit dark with a hint of mystique around them!

right, lets say something positive about this pub first, i cant exactly describe it but the inside of this bar has a really interesting décor, the walls are not exactly flat and there is something twinky and sparkly about the place which i kind of like! thats is where my liking stops. this pub seems to be a regular haunt of creepy men. I imagine that somewhere in some foreign country there is a travel agent who specialises in finding holidays for creepy smrmy men and they send them all to the turks head in temple bar. they all go in and lurk in corners and they then slither out to ask you some normal question but the way they ask it makes your hairs stand on end and you have a sudden need to get out of the place and as far away as possible. its the kind of place that you would not feel comfortable laving on your own because there is a good chance that one of the scary men are going to follow you out and wait to drag you down a dark lane. So in summary if you are a man above 40, have a constant weird look on your face and you love chatting up women who you dont have a chance of ever scoring this is your place!

A totally forgettable bar in Temple Bar. Turk’s Head is dark and dingy, with the customary clientele as begrimed as the interior. The dance floor is poky and it can get uncomfortably clammy very quickly. At the weekend the bar is recurrently too busy to get a drink at and even the dance floor can sometimes be too teeming to approach. Being left stagnant devoid of any drink and no opportunity to boogie makes for a pitiable experience.

Ok, this place can be a little creepy, and I avoid it on weekend nights like I avoid pretty much every Temple Bar establishment barring the Porterhouse. But during the week it’s a lot better, not crowded at all and can be a good place to grab a drink if you’re in the area and can’t get up the energy to wander a bit further out of TB to find a cheaper pub. I really dig the cool mosaic-tiled columns that hold the ceiling up, they’re pretty! We stopped in on a Monday night and were surprised to see a milonga in the next room! Turns out they have tango lessons, which highly excited my Argentinean boyfriend. I think that’s pretty much enough to give this place an extra star.

The Turks Head has live music till late every night of the week and is open till 4am all week and it is free in before midnight. It also has tango classes every Monday from 8pm. It tries to vary the music genre every night so Monday after the Tango might be reggae, Friday Indie night, Sunday Funk Soul etc. But in trying to appeal to every body’s taste I feel that it has lost its own identity and it cannot make up its mind who it wants its clientele to be and what type of venue it wants to promote itself as. I say pick one thing and do it well!

I imagine that Laura is of a similar vintage to myself, as I seem to remember the Turk’s Head being somewhat en vouge back in ’05 or ’06. I think my sister might have had her 21st there, though I was very drunk at the time so the particulars are a bit hazy, and a couple of the local girls’ schools had graduation parties there(back when I was the right age for chasing after young debutantes). I also recall thinking what an odd choice Turk’s Head was for a group of nubile young women to go to, as any time that I had been there, the dancefloor had been chock-a-block with sleazy foreign men. The bar upstairs is alright: pretty standard for a bar in the Dame St area, apart from the funky columns everywhere. They also have an area that you can book for 21st’s(if it actually was the Turk’s Head where my sister had her’s, but I’m pretty sure it is). There is a dancefloor downstairs, and seriously, creeeep central, I was pretty appalled last time I went, and had to go to and square up to some bloke with wandering hands in order to preserve the innocence of some young Rahenyenite. On the plus side, Turk’s Head is free in, so if you go there and don’t like it, no loss, just head somewhere else. And they have World Music nights(which I can’t abide), but if that is your thing, pop your head around the door mid-week and see how you like it.
