Merrion Inn is my new favorite neighborhood pub. The space is very warm and comfortable. They have an excellent selection of drought and bottled craft beer. The food on all my visits has been excellent and a little more complex than your standard pub fare. I can’t wait for the warmer weather to enjoy a pint in their back yard.

Lovely pub with a great menu. Very friendly staff and the service was very efficient. I initially thought there were no vegetarian options on the menu but there was a choice of pasta or a chickpea stew. The stew was delicious. A pity it wasn’t served with a side of bread for the tomato sauce but I was stuffed anyway! No tv on when I was there which is always a bonus in the pub.

I came here with my wife and infant daughter for some lunch in the late afternoon. The waiting staff were fantastic and immediately found us a booth where we could sit and fit our pram in. The food was delicious — my slow cooked beef was wonderful and my wife had very tasty fish and chips. We followed that with an excellent sticky toffee pudding and a hot chocolate and mocha. Both the hot chocolate and mocha were made using gourmet hot chocolate and were truly excellent. To cap the whole thing off one of the staff walked all the way to the front door with us to open the door for the pram. I could not say enough good things about the service and food we received!

Had a really nice burger and home made chips tonight in the refurbished bar. Great staff and lively atmosphere. Tasted the chicken goujons which were also delish. Will be back to try the chocolate brownie.

Found this place while on a Tesco run last year around lunch time. Their potato and leek soup is what had me coming back the second time. The lunch carvery is really pretty good, with a decent selection of dishes. They have an okay lineup of beers and sports on sometimes. Neither time I was here did the place really seem ‘warm’ though. It was just a pub, had some drinks and went back home. The restaurant is pretty small so sometimes it can be difficult to find seats. Like Quintin says, I just never settled in.

It’s not a bad pub… really, it has all the requisit things in all the requisit places… but I can never get comfortable here.
I’ve never eaten in the place — having read Adam C’s review I will try next time I go in!

The Merrion Inn keeps getting better — I recently had the chance to try a special — a chicken stir fry that was tasty and full of crunchy vegetables. Nothing to write home about in a restaurant, but very good for a pub.
The reason for the extra star though is the knowledgeable bar staff. After trying one of the cheaper bottled beers (drinkable, but not great) the barman recommended some Monteiths Pilsner — a very drinkable New Zealand Pilsner — based on a quick description of the type of beer we were looking for. He hit the nail on the head, so I will have to go back for more suggestions :)

The Merrion Inn is a nice pub just across the road from St Vincent’s hospital and the Merrion Centre. It’s also where I go for the occasional quiet pint when the city centre seems too far away. Their soup is nice and it changes daily, and its less than a fiver. They serve dinner from 3.30pm seven days a week and they also have a good selection of vegetarian dishes, which is a big plus in Dublin.
On match days it gets a bit busy but it’s not as crowded as the pubs in town or near the RDS, so you’re more likely to get a seat. Their pints are good and they have a good selection of ‘world beers’ of you fancy a change from the black stuff.

Nice things first — the food is pretty good, though the ‘restaurant’ space is pretty small, so seats are at a premium when the rest of the pub is busy. They do a nice line in desserts. At weekends this traditionally was a hangout for local posh school kids, though you’d be more likely to bump into the teaching staff nowadays.
If you like rugby you’ll like it here. If not then maybe medical/​clerical staff are your thing. Situated directly across from St Vincent’s hospital this place fills up at lunchtime and on Friday evenings with beleaguered HSE staff.

Otherwise, inexplicably known as the M1, I believe, this is a pub that I really can’t imagine being useful for anyone. It’s smack bang in the centre of nothing-​at-​all.
It’s quite popular for 21st birthdays as the large private upstairs area can accommodate any and all the twenty-​first conventions, such as finger-​food, a DJ and all that jazz.
Other than this I can’t imagine why I would be here, it’s grand, just not really convenient. So, three stars.

The Merrion Inn’s big problem is that it is really in the middle of nowhere. It attracts a crowd of lunchers and after-​workers from St. Vincent’s Hospital and the nearby Elm Park development. Still. if you’re stuck on Merrion Road and want a reasonable pint, a good carvery lunch and a clean, wood-​panelled setting then this is really your only option. I wish they would take the big digital scrolling sign board out of their front window though. TACKY.
