I’m generally anxious about barbers and used to have my regular one back home in India, but ever since I moved to Ireland I’ve been getting my cuts here. I feel like a pros and cons list would work really well for this place, so here goes: Pros: — They are open on Sundays and are situated inside Arnotts near the city centre. This, to me, is perfect. I’m usually busy on weekdays to get a haircut and spend most, if not all, of my time near the city centre on weekends – so coming here for a haircut just feels natural for me. — Grafton Barber are a chain and most of their people are pretty consistent when it comes to the cuts they give you. I usually know what to expect here and there aren’t many surprises. I’m terrible at communicating my needs to a barber and these guys are super friendly and really understand what I’m looking for. — They sometimes offer you a drink(think coffee, tea, or beer) while waiting which is nice. Cons: — Expensive. At 22 euro a piece, getting haircuts here every other month runs a bit steep if you’re on a budget, but I continue to keep coming back here given the aforesaid benefits.

Open on Sundays which is a godsend — given that I’m usually hungover on Saturdays and finish work too late during the week! Barbers there are all of a good standard in terms of haircutting skills but service tends to vary… sometimes you get hair tonic massages, sometimes you get offered a beer but sometimes you get none! Standardisation must happen!

A bit more expensive than my usual place, but Grafton Barber in Arnotts has the benefit of being open on a Sunday, which not many barbers are. Was offered a tea, coffee, or beer. Wasn’t sure if these were free or not so I declined. Got a good haircut though! I won’t be rushing back but every once in a while if I want a slightly fancier experience I’ll come back.
