Is this place hipster! YES! ha ha, this is a quirky little place on Richmond Street, it’s so deceiving from the outside you would not guess what magic lies behind the doors here… Some rough on the edge seating inside, some booth/table options but it’s outback that this place comes into t’s own. There is a spacious area out back which has a pool table and also a projector screen which they lay on for sports events… Place is very casual, with old school benches and seats, people sitting up on concete steps and wait for it, there is a big blue bus which dishes out the yummiest pizza in the area. So whilst you beer up, you can keep yourself with some yumtastic food :-)

If you are looking for a coffee to die for in the morning, don’t look any further than here. Stop at the window and order a coffee to go from their amazing Italian staff always bubbly and singing Leo and his team are the Best… and so are their coffee’s and Italian pastries

I understand I might not be popular for this as its a popular bar, but I’m sorry the bar is small, dirty, smells badly and has rude staff. I have been agreed to nights out and heard the location and pulled out. The staff have such a bad attitude and maybe that’s the same with the cleaners as the place is pretty filthy. I think«hipsters» like this bar. I am not a hipster and couldn’t be further from one, so the hipsters can stay in pls and I’ll go to a proper establishment where there’s a little hint of cleanliness.

The Bernard Shaw is a quirky little joint. Not too big inside but there’s a really decent sized beer garden in the back. You can book a table online if you’re getting a group together which is handy. As for eating pizza on a bus, every girl’s dream!

One of my favourite places in Dublin, at least when it’s not crowded which can make it really hard to get drinks. The pizzas are delicious and if you are patient you can taste them on a bus yeah that’s right a bus !! They somehow managed to fit one on the beer garden it’s so cool and it’s also where they cook the amazing pizzas so you can imagine the great smells that come from there. What’s really cool about the place besides the awesome décor is the big beer garden and they have a BUS !!! Did i mention the bus ??? I mean where else you can you eat your freshly cooked pizza in a bus??? There are a few things i just don’t get like the pool table in the middle of the beer garden. It really annoying when the place is packed and there is someone trying to play pool.

Gotta be honest, I’m just not a fan of this pub. I was here years back and didn’t think much then either. We went for a few birthday drinks for a friend of mine while the rugby was on. I was impressed that it was on the big screen which was handy, but due to what I would call weird or little seating in the smoking area we went back in and watched it at the downstairs bar. The smoking area was full of people and had a really nice atmosphere but I just wasn’t into it. There is a pizza place just in there too and they seemed to be doing a booming trade which was great to see. I’m not sure I’ll be back anytime soon but I’m sure others might get a different sort of feeling once they’ve been.

On Friday night is full of people and it is very difficult to move but in the afternoon the atmosphere is very cool. The pizza is very nice

My favorite pub in Dublin. Where else can you have a pint and a pizza on the top of a double decker bus? Usually very crowded, but great atmosphere in the beer garden. Definitely check it out if you’re ever in Portobello.

It’s a l good place to meet the friends in camden st. It is very hypster place but it is good. The exception were: i) the change our booking’s place from outside to inside and didn’t tell us. ii) some cheaty staff(two guys — tall & blonde guy and grey curly hair guy) grabed us the contactless bank card, made the payment and didn’t told us what was the value. Btw this is no ethic and probably illegal.

This a young, hipster bar. I have a soft spot for the Bernard Shaw as its one of my locals. I try to avoid going there on the weekends as it can get extremely overcrowded and there’s a long wait for a drink at times. Can’t beat it on a sunny day tho, nice large beer garden and the pizzas are to die for. Pizza and a pint for € 10 before 7pm During the day you can bring your dog into the beer garden too.

Kind of hippy, often full but soooooo cool! The garden is great, you can litterally stay here all night. It is quite difficult to access the bus and eat a pizza inside. But you can just have it on the terrace. One of my top 10 garden beer in Dublin!

Fully and trusted hipster venue. I you see a fence used to park single speed bikes, a wall with an attractive Graffiti and a house founded in 1895 maybe you are in front of The Bernard Shaw. No doubts there, come in, you will enjoy it. Inside two small rooms, the first one is just the bar. They use to have art exhibitions with emergent artist. Downstairs the second room, kind of cocktail bar with some tables to enjoy the drink. A third space is the backyard, with a pizzeria bus, a billiard and more tables to sit. And of course, more graffitis. I would like to recommended the deal pizza and pint that you can get in the bar. The pizzas there are nice. The pint of Guinness with the day, sometimes is good, sometimes average. Go for a night hipster, go for a night to the Bernard Shaw!

one of my favourite bars in dublin, if a bit of a tight squeeze when it gets in anyway busy. huge and well thought out smoking area and whoever thought of having the big blue bus make great pizza for most of the night deserves an award. Highly recommended.

As far as pubs go in Dublin, this is hands down my favourite. Far from the typical Irish pub experience, this place is truly one of a kind. It feels like the type of place that in any other city in the world would be overrun and packed to the brim with hipsters who’d have appropriated the place as their own. At the Bernard Shaw however, it manages to capture the exact vibe — a funky interior décor, eclectic & artsy and yet somehow not being pretentious at the same time. The place is always busy regardless of when you go here, but somehow never too busy and you always get served pretty fast. Their selection of beers is solid and there are cocktails on offer as well and there is often a 2−4−1 deal going on with 2 cocktails for 10 Euro — bargain! The magic of this place though happens as soon as you step out the back. It is the one place in Dublin where no matter the season, out the back in the yard is where you need to be. The communal seating out the back is great, it’s always heated and despite the smokers if you’re a non-smoker like me you don’t feel the smoke at all and can still relax. With the same street art type layout as you get indoors, this is the type of place you could really just sit and chill with your friends for hours on end, play some pool or just chat with some randoms in your surrounds. Now if you’re hungry, then comes the icing on the cake: order your pizza off the counter on the big blue bus. Yes, you read that right. The big blue bus, a double decker turned hang out spot where you order and have your pizza prepared(and with pizzas starting from 7 Euro, the prices are a real win too), and you can head upstairs, sit on the bus, drink your pint and eat your pizza in relative cosy isolation as you look out at the buzz in the courtyard below. The bus too is decorated in a sort of vintage style with dimmed lamps, cushions and the likes, it’s a great spot to eat, drink and chat with mates. Off the main tourist trail and yet still close to the centre of town this place is always a favourite. Great for an afternoon chillout or an evening out with friends alike. And with brunches in the morning and of late Saturday afternoon yoga sessions out the back you can’t really go wrong here. That’s why I keep coming back!

Depending on the night I can either love or slightly dislike this bar. Definitely can’t complain about the awesome drink specials and speciality beers they have on tap. If you have ever been to any bar in Williamsburg in Brooklyn well then you will know exactly the scene when you enter The Bernard Shaw. On the outside this looks like a typical Dublin pub but once you step in side the double doors you enter another realm of eccentricity that did not exist in Dublin 5 years ago. The music wouldn’t always be to my taste but it certainly doesn’t over power your evening. The pizza bus is what I love most about this bar– you can get a freshly cooked pizza, really good portion and all for under € 10. I believe they also have special pizza deals when you buy a beer. One thing I don’t like is that the place is that it always feels dirty especially the outside beer garden– a lot of cigarette ash and cigarette buds. But thats kinda part of the charm and why it has a loyal pilgrimage every weekend.

My previous review of this place is about two and a half years old and I am sure the pizza from that big blue bus is still pretty good however I went here for breakfast one morning and here is what I learned; The waitress was lovely and very nice, she presented the special(after checking with the chef), and my dad ordered it, she came back a few minutes later and said they were not making it anymore for the day, my sister ordered a croissant, she got cake instead because they were out, I ordered poached egg with avocado and got it with aubergine, they didn’t even inform me that I would not be getting the avocado they just served it(I don’t like aubergine). You see where I am getting at right? Out of three people none of us got what we ordered and it was very expensive for a bit of breakfast. I guess going here before 6 pm is a very bad idea.

My all time favorite pub in Dublin. I have only gone late at night, but I love the blue bus pizza making in the back. After a few beers *and they have Brooklyn Lager so I was super happy*, we went outside for some air and got into the bus and ordered a pizza. We were able to snag seats upstairs and had the most fun of the night sitting in the bus and looking out at the outside crowd. The music in the pub was so much fun to dance to and it is a great time!

Well it’s got it all really doesn’t it. An ever-changing backdrop of some of the best street art you’ll see round the world, an ever-evolving programme of events, from graffiti jams to screenings, home brew championships and full on gigs, there is always something new on the menu. On a sunny day this place is guaranteed to be packed to the rafters with people of all persuasions and ages gettin into the best Sunday session in Dublin. It must be the biggest beer garden in Dublin, surely? On a not-so-sunny day, it does suffer a little I think, but the diverse line up of goings-ons seems to combat that. If you haven’t been to Coffee-To-Get-Her in the front during the day on a weekday, I would absolutely advise it. They have a separate listing on Unilocal so check out the reviews. It’s a nice relaxed vibe, excellent Italian coffee(so I’m told!), and really great food.
