Nice pub, The 51. Typical of a mid size Dublin pub. It has taken me 17 years of living in Dublin to get here. What’s up with that. Comfortable seats. Friendly and prompt staff. Clean. There’s sport on the telly, but they had one area where the volume was down, so it’s not in your face(or ears as the case may be). It was midweek when I’ve been here and it was relatively quiet, which is what we wanted to be fair. A sit down and a good chat. I’d imagine it’s livelier on the weekend. And mobbed on rugby weekends, as it should be. I’ll be back, especially for a pre and maybe a post dinner drink, when we are dining in the area.

Great bar, spacious and deceptively big… Great for groups/get togethers plus with multiple TV’s this is a great venue for sports days. Their food menu is priced really well and they always have a pint and a meal deal on which offers you good value for money. Grub is your typical bar food standard, well portioned and offers you a cheap eat out option in Ballbridge area. The staff are also friendly and few chit-chat’s with other customers, this place could slowly become a regular go to place for that mid week drink /eat

Yup, I like this place. In fact, this might be one of the better pubs located around the Baggot Street area. Headed down for a Friday pint. Great Friday pints vibe! The staff were great and quick to serve. Good Guinness too. Good sized pub grub menu too. I went toe the burger. Comes out on a bread board with a little tin cup of chips. Not bad at all. This place is a serious contender for the Friday Pints Spot.

My girlfriend and I went to the 51 for dinner and some pints tonight. It was fantastic. Good pub food with good drink prices. I had steak with fries and she had fish and chips. Both were very good, they had a special that was a dish and a pint for 12 euros. Bartender was very friendly and helpful. He offered some new drink suggestions and things to do. Definitely a place we’d go back to! Cheers

Regular pub with regular finger food — about that nothing relevant has to be told. However the building and the place is good. I went a birthday party and they putted us in a huge room with a staff member just to seel us drinks. That was the difference and what will make me come back:)

This is a pub in Dublin 4 that sells nice beers for € 4! Shout from the rooftops, this is the holy grail. We’re talking a 500ml bottle of tiger or Budvar for € 4. That’s all I have to say about this place and that is all they have to do to get a 5 star rating from me: € 4.

I really like this pub — it’s our usual after work destination on Fridays. Prices are broadly in line with the other pubs in the area but they have a specials board with selected beers available for € 4 every day. They also do a meal deal from Monday-Friday with a drink + dinner for a tenner so it’s a decent option if you’re catching up with someone for«one» on a weekday evening. Bar and floor staff are good and attentive & it’s a nice option to watch live sport too — they’ve plenty of screens & the staff are happy to oblige if there’s something you’re looking to watch. Music is fine & there’s a lunchtime carvery option also, which is good standard and in the € 10-€ 12 price range.

Great pub, great prices, great Guinness, great food, great staff. Also has a certain intangible charm and is very comfortable. What’s not to like!

I like the 51 and we use to work across the road from it, in one of the old red/brown brick buildings I was back here last week for a pint and the beer is super cheap, 3.50 a pint during the week and they also do a dinner and pint for 10 euro,… which isn’t such great value when the beer is already so cheap. I had the chicken Kebab and chips and a large bottle of Erdinger and watched the arsenal game in peace and quiet! Ssshhh…don’t tell anyone about the place i don’t want it over run by yuppies

This is a nice pub to stop by for a pint on the patio. It is a small patio but the 10 euro dinner special is what got us. We got Bangers and mash which were delicious and a pint of Guiness for 10 euro. I think the food menu changes weekly. The inside is large and has tv’s for sports. I would definitely stop in here again!

this is the pub to head to after a game in landsdowne road, well it was when landsdowne road was open, and actually i havent been in here since the closed the ground, im sure this pub is really looking forward to it opening again so that its crowds grow back to what they used to be. all the same this is stilla great pub to go to when there is a rugby game on, there is always a great atmosphere and you dont feel too squashed despite the throngs of people that are screaming at the screens around you. they do food here too which isnt too bad, it hits the spot when you are on a real session!

The 51 is nice place for a pint on Haddington Road. The pub décor is more modern than Smyths just across the road, but the barmen here are just as attentive and their pints are cheaper. The pub is fairly busy on a Friday evening with the after-work crowd but because it’s pretty big you don’t feel like a sardine. There is a board with special offers on beers and cocktails behind the bar and they do have a large selection of spirits. The only thing that slightly annoyed me was that the TV screens were showing the Windows Media-player screensaver thing that you get when you listen to music on your PC. Other than that, it’s a nice place to come and watch the Rugby with a pint.

The 51 is a big pub that will be spilling with people come rugby season. It’s a good pub with music at the weekends and food during the day. They have several TVs which make it popular for any sporting events, but they also have hot-dog vendors and an outdoor tap for the big matches that happen in Landsdowne, Croke Park or the RDS. It’s also nice for a few quiet drinks and you can sit outside on a sunny day. The 51 is very busy on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights and very popular with 25 – 35’s. Music makes sure that everyone stays until 1ish. There’s also a room upstairs, open when it’s very busy, which can be rented out for private functions.

The 51 is generally a pretty busy place. Big post work crowds push in here on Thursdays and Fridays, and the outdoor tables are always full on a nice day. It’s a big roomy pub though, with good cocktails, reasonable pints, and some interesting rotating beer specials(check the blackboard out the front for what’s on special). The food is pretty standard greasy pub fare and the service varies. There’s an upstairs function room and they also book tables downstairs(if you can guarantee numbers they have a free food deal). All this makes it a solid place for a quick one with mates or an ideal venue for a boozy work function.
