Went to Sherie’s last Saturday, had never tried it before, but was i in for a treat. I was seated quickly, and it hit me how friendly the staff were, i ordered cod in guinness with thick cut chips, and a glass of cold fruit juice, the owner Adam came down to my table and welcomed me, and said anything wrong call him immediately. The food arrived and was lovely and hot, the cod was to die for, it melted in my mouth, and the portions were great. I followed this with apple tart and cream, and the last time i tasted apple tart like that was when my mom made it, i had this with a lovely creamy cappuchino, The owner Adam certainly has the flair with people, and you can tell how sincere he was, as were his staff. Unfortunately many restaurants have lost the personal touch, Sherie’s has it in spades. I will be back soon as i live in Dublin, and am really looking forward to what i could only describe as the best café/bar i have come across in a long time, and totally deserves five stars, try it you won’t be dissappointed.

In a part of town which is thin on the ground for good eateries barring Le Bön Crubeen I stopped in here enroute to the cinema for a quick bite. Having explained to the manager that we were tight on time he suggested a soup sandwich combo and assured us we would be finished and out on time. What lovely friendly staff and the soups were both amazing. The carrot and coconut was full of flavour as was the wild mushroom and our toasted ciabatta with roasted vegetables and toasted wrap with spicy chicken and salad were fresh, crispy and very very tasty. I’m delighted to have found a nice oasis as this and will definately be back for more.

We stopped in just after the lunch time rush so no trouble getting a table… Adam, the owner, along with two other cheerful wait staff took excellent care of us… even allowing us to sample a couple of wines before committing to a bottle. The food was excellent and we will plan to go back again someday!

I wandered in here from my hostel nearby to get some dinner/shelter from the rain. The staff inside were nice enough and seated me right away. I ordered coffee and some food. Because I wasn’t sure how my food was supposed to look, I ate some of it before realizing that they had gotten my order wrong. I called the waitress over, and she thought that I might’ve made a mistake in my order(uh…what I’m pretty sure I didn’t order a salad b/c I never, ever order salad at a restaurant). She took away the food anyway and asked me to repeat what I had originally ordered. She came back 5 minutes later to tell me that the kitchen had run out of that order, and that’s probably why they gave me something different(…uh…so you guys either forgot to tell me or thought I wouldn’t notice if you gave me something different??). I ate about half my entrée and wanted to take the rest with me. However, this place has no take-away containers(unheard of in the U.S.), so the waitress handed me some napkins to use instead. The next day I got to eat my leftovers… with bonus pieces of napkin inside.

Late on a Saturday morning, time for noms. The full Irish breakfast is pretty decent, not too much food and tea/coffee & toast are included in the price. I found the two jumbo sausages a bit salty but the egg was sunny-side up with a soft yolk, perfect. Service was lovely, really friendly. Not my first choice for an Irish brekkie, but certainly not my last.

This little brasserie café on abbey st is perfectly placed for a post-shopping, late-afternoon bite to eat. The slick interiors with dark wood and smooth jazz playing in the background made it a relaxing escape from the miserable weather outside. I opted for a mid-sized main in the form of the tuna melt, because i knew i wanted to enjoy dessert, too. The tuna melt was fine, nothing special, but did its job in filling a hole while leaving enough room for the decadent warm death by chocolate. My God, this was tasty cake. Perfectly moist, indulgently rich with its dark chocolate sauce dripping down the sides of the generous portion, but surprisingly light so that afterwards i didn’t feel sick, i didn’t feel disgusting, i didn’t feel guilty. I just felt wonderfully content and satisfied.

I arrived around lunchtime and asked if I could just have a bowl of soup. There were no tables so I was asked if I would mind sitting at the bar. I didn’t so I did. Besides sitting at the bar you can be very nosy about what is going on around you — what people are eating, what is not being eaten, what the staff are like etc. I had the potato and herb soup served in a big bowl with 2 slices of the usual brown bread and 2 pats of butter. It was excellent. Also because I could not decide between that or the carrot and coconut soup my waitress offered to change it if I was not happy with the potato soup… as I was half way through it. I was polite and declined the offer… although it did cross my mind I could have review TWO soups. It was a good atmosphere — staff were excellent and dealt with it being busy, making sure people did not have to wait too long to get a table or served. Would I go again — you bet. Big bowl of soup and bread € 4.85

Sheries is an oasis of calm in a land of craziness. I have to admit I’ve never actually eaten in Sheries, but rather I usual just stop in for a cup of tea or coffee to get out of the cold. It’s a good place if you need a bit of warming up when you’re cold or if you need to rest your legs from all the shopping you’ve been doing on Mary Street. There’s tons of other places in the area, but this really seems to take me away from the hustle and the bustle! Also, I’m not normally the type of person who arrives early, I don’t like waiting for others!, but just every once in awhile I do get somewhere a few minutes too early, this is a great place to pop into to kill sometime until your friend arrives. If you’re early they’ll invariably be running 10 – 15 minutes late!

Sheries offers a tranquil escape from the luas/bus/pedestrian overload that is Abbey Street. Step inside and you’ll momentarily forget about the crazy old woman who nearly pushed you on the luas tracks and the disgusting man who just tried to bum a cigarette. Sheries is the oldest family eatery in Dublin, having been an Abbey St institution since the late 1940s. The restaurant recently underwent major renovations and(although I can’t say what it was like beforehand) now provides a chilled out ambience which is a perfect relaxant for the harassed Dublin street shopper. I ventured in late one afternoon for a quick and easy dinner. I opted for the soup, which was a glorious and somewhat unexpectedly tasty brew of the potato variety. Apparently Sheries specialises in noodle, fish and steak dishes, so I will have to sample these on another occasion, when I am not so time and money poor. Service was brill, the waiters were really attentive without being over the top. I quite enjoyed my short time here and will pop in anytime Abbey St gets too much for me!
