Quinns is my local in drumcondra it’s gone a bit down hill in the past few months but it’s still great for a cheap night out, we normally go there as a last min thing after having a few drinks in the house. They always have great drink promos on. Best time to go to quinns is match days there’s no other place you’d want to be.

We were staying at the Croke Park Hotel for a week while visiting Dublin. While I read plenty of good reviews, we only made it to Quinn’s once, on our last night, but the four of us agreed and give it a big thumbs up!(Sorry, is that too American?) =) Anyway, it wasn’t very busy on the Wednesday we happened to show up and it was an easy walk from the hotel. It was still early(around 5−6ish), but I can see the place getting very busy on the weekend nights! My two favorite things(besides the Guinness, obviously) were the dart board(cool points!) and the fact the bar is a Celtic Football supporter(Wahoo! Let’s go Bhoys!) I’m sure this would be a great place to watch a game. If we hadn’t decided to brave the streets of Glasgow to see the game in person, we would have been at Quinn’s for sure! The only thing I wish I could change about this place is that I want a T-shirt! Yeah, that my sound a little tourist-y, but hey, that’s what I am. Plus, I wanted to bring one home to my friend, Quinn!

Quinn’s is the place to be on matchdays– well if you can’t get a ticket to Croker that is! There is a great atmosphere in here as the pub is pretty much packed just before and after gigs. Last time I was here, the place was packed with fit blokes having pre-match pints and the place was hopping. The bartenders still managed to keep waiting times down, which I found very impressive. There is a lot of places in town where the bartenders aren’t this quick and friendly. The music wasn’t too loud either and just helped fire up everyone for the upcoming match. One thing though, there is a step down into the ladies and you don’t want to fall down that step with a roomful of fit blokes watching, trust me.

Quinns is the pre match, pre gig, pre anything in Croke Park. It is always packed but that just adds to the atmosphere. Sure people don’t even bother trying to go in most times they just stand outside and pretend that they are in Quinns! The first downstairs lounge is pretty small but they have a grand sized one upstairs too and a beer garden out the back. Big screens are dotted all around the place so you don’t miss a moment of the action. The staff are lovely and friendly even when it is rammed and they don’t miss a beat, they really are on the ball professionals here! And a lovely half glass of the black stuff is 2.70euro and they have a 3.50euro OAP price!

You’re one of Drumcondra/Botanic Roads numerous culchie residents, you want to out for the night but you’re too sozzled to make it as far as either Coppers or Flannery’s. What to do? Well, you’d probably go to Quinn’s, along with the rest of Dublin’s provincial population. Quinn’s is good for a laugh if you head down on a Thursday when all the students from DCU head out there. Prepare to see lots of trainee nurses dancing around their handbags. It’s also good on matchdays, when they seemingly manage to squeeze in every single one of the 82,000 fans fresh from Croker. Matchdays aside, it gets quieter on Saturday and Sunday nights, so it’s good for a quiet pint or two.
