My husband and I went here on our first night in Dublin, it was a splendid experience. We had an attentive waiter, but not pestering. The restaurant was dimly lit, but not dark. The volume level was not so loud that you could not hear your table mates. I had the venison and my husband has aged Porter house steak, both were delicious. When we told told them that we were on our honeymoon they were kind enough to give us complimentary champagne! Every step of the meal was enjoyable.

Had a special occasion to celebrate last weekend and could not have been happier with Peploe’s as our number one choice for dinner. For the majority of our party the steak was the prize winner of the evening. For me,(disclaimer: I may be biased as I check the dessert menu before the mains) it had to be their delicious, melt in your mouth chocolate fondant. To.Die.For. There was a slight lack in attention to detail with regards to the service, which may be attributable to our waiter and not the overall establishment. The staff were otherwise extremely friendly, and very accommodating when we rang to change our booking to a later time. Fabulous food, would definitely recommend!

We had a really nice experience. The food was amazing. Got the calamari and shrimp fry with peppers for appetizer. Tuna steak was very good. The chocolate lava cake and pavlova were to die for.

Nice restaurant if you are looking for a good place to have a dinner date. Great service and higher end type of menu/wine list. Probably everything you chose is going to be delicious… we went to people’s with 4 people, I tried everything and everything was delicious. Only reason why I give 4 stars is, the service was a bit slow towards the end of the night, kinda like they were done with our table — we had to ask to staff members twice to get our bill. And with the prices the restaurants charges I wouldn’t expect any delays.

The second best meal I’ve had in Dublin. It’s a close 2nd though. Great attention to detail with the meals and service. I had the carpaccio for starter. I go for this no matter where I go if it’s on the menu. It was so nice and I love the artichoke add in. Then I had the veal. Wow was this a taste sensation. SO juicy, tasty and amazing. Then dessert was choclate tart. It was the second best meal, but easily the best dessert. I would recommend going here for this alone. It is a pricey place so it’s best to go here to really treat yourself or someone. I would go back in a flash

Wine was good with generous pours to start the second. Not that there is anything wrong with that! Good crowd. I had the wild sea bass, but I think it was codd or another white fish. My girls had the crab pasta and liked it. I would come back.

We have our annual cousins christmas dinner here and this year did not disappoint. My cousin and I shared the carpaccio starter and the scallop and gamba starter. Both very tasty. The latter was definitely the winner of the two! For mains I tried venison which was done with pomegranate and sweet potato and was absolutely magnificent. Peploes is always a great place for game meats. This venison was cooked perfectly and not overpowering. Dessert had to be the chocolate fondant and pavlova, chocolate fondant won here, the pavlova was a little bit hard, I love chewy meringues. Definitely pre book and bring a heavy wallet on this culinary adventure though.

A cosy atmosphere & friendly staff make Peploes the perfect place of a cold, wintery Sunday. The brunch menu is short but sweet with plenty of delights if not a bit strong on the number of predominant egg based dishes! The smoked haddock with spinach & roast tomatoes is served with a plate scrapping chive sauce. Dessert had to be tasted, the chocolate fondant is totally sinful but light compared to most chocolate desserts. Overall, I’ll be returning for more!

Nice spot but thank f@£k I wasn’t paying! 5 people. 400 quid. Yikes. In fairness, we did get plenty of wine, but if bbz thinks I’m ever bringing her here and dipping my hands in my own pockets, she’s in for a serious reality check. No meal is worth € 80 a head. None. The food was really good, no doubt. I had foie gras(fwohgwoh as i say) and a nice sirloin steak with jam, caramelised onion and bernaisse sauce, it was really good, but nothing a mam or dad wouldn’t be capable of cooking. They have a really nice outdoor area at the front, and obviously one of the best locations in the country for a restaurant. Just make sure you know what you’re doing and keep and eye on how much you spend. They add a service charge(45 euro for us), which absolutely blew my mind, but then again, I’m an uncultured dickhead with zero taste or class. My opinions on restaurants should be ignored, if not mocked.

Excellent food and service is all that you’re going to get here! I have been here three times already and I have yet to experience disappointment. the food is nothing but satisfying, I have to say my favourites are a kidney starter dish and the mussels, you won’t regret having those! Nice selection of wines. I do recommend booking in advance the place can get a little busy sometimes. The price you pay for your food is very reasonable considering the quality of food and the amount they are serving. Lovely warm atmosphere, professional service.

Came here for a celebratory family lunch and did not leave disappointed! Incredible value for the standard of food on offer with a three course lunch only setting you back € 27. The menu is fabulous with many different options to suit all tastes, which I have found to be uncommon for this kind of dining. I chose the goats cheese salad to begin, followed by chicken with sausage stuffing and pureed potatoes and finished off my meal with an apple and blackberry crumble — simplicity at its best. To top it all off the staff were as impressive as the quality of food — faultless. This really is a fantastic place for occasion dining and I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes on the menu.

Had an early dinner here and very pleased with the food, the wine list, the service and the atmosphere. I had an appetizer of crab and tortellini that was lick the plate delicious. I followed it up with a slab of Irish Beef which was perfectly cooked and expertly seasoned. Everyone in our group was completely impressed and we will be returning soon!

Save your cash for McDonalds. Upon reading several reviews about how great this place is — we decided to try it out. We wanted one fine dinning experience while in Dublin. We started with the mussels which were really good — hence the one star. For our main we had the two person rib eye steak that came with a side of creamed spinach and fries. The rib eye was so fatty that we could only eat half of it. The spinach was so watery it got everywhere and had no flavor, really the fries were the best part and I can get those on the dollar menu. Further our waiter was rude, short with us and never around. Now — I understand that service in Dublin might not be on par with the US but if I’m going to pay $ 170.00 for dinner at least be friendly.

Wow wow wow… What can I say! This place is amazing. It’s neatly tucked away off st Stephens green, down stairs. We opted for the pre theatre meal which is exceptional value at € 26.96 for three courses. They don’t skimp on the food or the service just because you’ve opted for the pre theatre. The staff were brilliant, so professional. There’s an air of a calm and class as soon as you walk in. The food. I’m still thinking about it! I went for the gnocchi with chorizo and gambas, the flavour immense, really rich. For mains I had the beef, I never get my steak rare, and would generally shy away from it. This, Unilocalers, was the rarest beef I’ve ever eaten and it was delicious, melt in your mouth, served on a bed of wilted spinach with onion jam with a side of rosemary fries. Desert. Prepare yourselves. I opted for the rhubarb and strawberry crumble with vanilla ice cream, I tried the chocolate fondant too… I need more of that one! Would really recommend this place!

Enjoyed dinner at Peploes for my hen night with 8 ladies(not dressed in any hen gear and Peploes wouldn’t be the place to accept latex costumes or headbands with dubious bobbles)! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Quality, presentation and service could not be faulted. It was a lively atmosphere without being too loud. Great for couples or parties! Peploes also got us in with less than a week notice when we found out our previous booking, Town Bar, had closed down.

Having exceptionally great taste in fish actually had me loving this place before I even ate. Turbot and Monkfish on the menu!!! Shut the front door… Amazing scallops with bone marrow butter. Everything else was spectacular. Au gratin potatoes were the most decadent I have ever tasted. After eating at over priced, souless, high end restaurants near central park west in Manhattan for the last two weeks, this place was like a breath of fresh air. Thankfully the humble staff there do not seem to realize how spectacular they are. Blown away. Will definitely go back next time I am in Dublin

Such a great restaurant. I have eaten here are couple of times now with big groups and they have excellent food, a great wine menu and professional and friendly staff. I last ate here on the Sunday before Xmas and I ordered the goose for my main. It was without question the best goose that I have ever had! The stuffing was out of this world. I still do not know how they cooked it, but I would love the recipe. I highly recommend Peploes. It is one of my favourite restaurants and a great place for groups. Two thumbs up!

One of the best steaks I have had in a long time. They prepared it perfectly — the one thing I appreciate is not a lot of salt, but perfection and balance of ingredients to bring out the natural flavors of the meats. I really enjoyed the décor and different spots within the restaurant — it’s quite a large restaurant. Definitely need to go back and relax upstairs in the bar more.

Not our first time in Peploes but is always a treat reserved for special occasions. Such a special occasion involving American in-laws resulted in 6 assorted relatives assembling here on a recent Wednesday night. Eager to impress, we pushed the boat out somewhat in the wine department. That said, the very excellent Gavi(white) and the equally potable Pinot Noir did not lead to a run on the bank and were both excellent accompaniments to the food. The food choice was, as always, eclectic, ranging from kidneys, mussels and scallops starters to steak, fish pie and sole for mains with moreish ‘frites’ and girdle busting gratin potatoes on the side. All in all, an excellent repast with a number of new transatlantic fans joining the club. I wonder if there is another Gathering next year?

After two fantastic dinners, I was concerned the Unilocal’s «recommendation well» might have run dry. We’d tried to get into Peploe’s the evening before, but they were fully booked. So when we needed a last night send-off for our team meetings, and Peploe’s was available, we knew we were in for a good time. A brief menu with only six or seven starters and a handful of mains in the usual categories, we were still able to divide and conquer. I started with the French Onion soup, it was full and rich. Very hearty, chock full of onions in a luscious beefy broth. On a low carb kick, they had no problem accommodating me by leaving off the croutons. Another of my tablemates started with the«mains» mussels as a starter. A huge portion in a thick and creamy white wine sauce. For mains I opted to go with the night’s special, a double of thick«John Dory» steaks. A white fish, in a parmesan crust with steamed veggies on top. They were happy to sub a delicious salad(pine nuts!) instead of the potatoes for me. Others had the tuna steak(«delish!»), the fillet and the t-bone. There was a problem with one of the t-bones being overdone and the wait staff apologized and took it away. The manager also came by and apologized in time for the new steak to arrive properly cooked. With the mains, we had a few sides, including the green beans and a heavenly plate of brussels sprouts with roasted chestnuts. Oh, so good. I was glad no one else wanted any, as I must have eaten three quarters of it myself, picking out the soft chestnuts! They do not have a beer offering nor any spirits. We had two bottles of a nice Australian red with our meal(that’s as much as *I* know about wine) and a few bottles of both still and sparking water. Our wine expert did say that they had a very large list of wines available and we could see into the«wine cellar» area that was stacked ten feet high! Great attentive service. It was clear that our waitress was only responsible for our table and one other, so she was always there when we needed her without being a hanger-on. I would absolutely return, as long as work was paying for it!
