October and November cost 850 euro in internet charges. Yes, 850 euro. Evidently, there was a limit on the amount of data we could use, however, when we surpassed it, no notice was given, we were simply charged at the exorbitant data rates O2 has for data over your limit. There was no negotiating; the money was taken out and I haven’t been able to reach anyone for comment since. Run away from any contracts with this company, especially with internet, before you too, must enjoy their non-existent customer service and horrific rates.

So my phone got stolen last week which blows… When I landed today I ventured out to get another one. Dave in the O2 on Henry street was great and so informative and patient with my questions about plans etc. He also noted that I had been signed into the wrong plan and therefore was being over charged by € 5 per month. It was a shock but he said he made a note and my account and just to call the helpline. Helpline… Now that is comedy. This is my issue with large companies. You have folks like Dave that know their product inside out. You also have folks like the woman in the retail store last year that signed me up to the incorrect plan. You have great employees like a lady in the call centre that moved me on to another plan due to my high bills which again were due to being told I was signing up for something that I actually wasn’t by the first woman in the retail store. And then you have the clueless man on the line today who thought it was OK to lecture me… Seriously. Dave deserves the 5⁄5 but the call centre«helpline» deserves –50. There is no consistent training it seems. «Hi your colleague told me to call about my plan, he made a note on my a/c.» This took him 10 mins to find and all the time doubting me. Then he asked me what the difference should be. «I’m sorry do I work for 02?» «No.» “So why on earth are you asking me to do your job, do you even know?“ Again on hold for 15 mins upon which he returns and tells me I will get € 15 back. «OK lets do simple maths my friend. I signed up for an 18 month plan. I have been with you for over a year so that’s at least € 60.» Again put on hold. Then he returns to tell me yes I was right but really it was my fault all along for not checking my bills properly. «So what you are saying to me is that I should never trust the integrity of your colleagues as they will always try to rip me off — is that correct?» JOKE.

Damn… it may become obvious that i hold a personal grudge against O2… They stole the Point Depot and all of its character. they sponsor everything, and act as if they are so innocent and clean and as essential as oxygen really is. When in reality all they are to me is a money driven corporate machine with too much money and no interest in the customer, who is to them only a number and a commodity. In my opinion it is companies like O2 that have wattled out the pure core of modern society and replaced the heart of the world with a cold stone. When we hit the current downturn it showed the world just how fictional wealth is and when we see OUR own buildings carrying the names of the companies that have run off with all our hard earned cash … its horrible to realised just how much they used us. And now they are giving away early bird tickets to O2 customers only. GRRRRRR!!! Don’t buy into them. That said they have competitive prices and nice staff… and perhaps the best phones including the iPhone which is so overpriced its ridiculous but what can you do? but still i think they are evil. sorta
