Mellon’s is a little corner shop selling sweets, eggs, the paper and the likes. It is also a deli, a very busy one during weekday lunch times. And it is post office, of sorts. Well, they sell stamps which is dead– handy. They have a couple of tables and chairs outside in the summer months to have your sambo and tea there in the sun. The best thing about Mellon’s however, is the fact that you can pre-order your sandwich on facebook in the morning and they’ll have it ready for you at lunch time. No endless queuing seeing the precious minutes of your oh so short lunch break trickle away as you stare mindlessly at the little bit of fluff on the suit jacket of the person ahead of you in line thinking: do I really need this job.

This shouldn’t be anything more than your average small newsagents, stuck in the middle of nowhere, selling fags, sweets and papers. Instead, on a sunny day it doubles up as a cosy deli and coffee shop where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and coffee. It still has a fairly basic/Spartan fee inside, but there’s something lovely about it, I very much enjoy going, even if it is just for the paper.
