Never had enough staff on. Closed down I hear due to a legal case taken by a staff member against the owners, apparently they tried one over on a staff member and lost.

Went in early for lunch as it was one of the few places we noticed actually serving lunch before 12:00. I really liked the décor and atmosphere once I walked inside. It’s cosy — cool furniture and design. I love the black and white tiles & butcher’s shop look. One complaint, the dust on the wall beside our table was thick as **** which is a bit gross when you’re eating. Staff were exceptionally friendly and service was good so top marks for that. Food-wise, for lunch there was 8 or so sandwiches on offer and a soup of the day, all reasonably priced too. I had the«3CHEESE — Cashel Blue, Apple Wood Cheddar & Swiss With Plum Tomato, Red Onion Marmalade». Actually one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in years. Just delicious. I want to eat one everyday for the rest of the week. € 6.50 for something that tasty is recession beating value! Herself had the Cajun Chicken Sandwich(«Crispy Streaky Bacon, Guacamole, Baby Gem, Cos, Roast Garlic Aioli») which looked good to me but she was fairly ‘meh’ about it –said it was too much Guac’ and not much Cajun. Tough, she’ll have to find something she likes because I’m going back for sure.

Flat breads are excellent! We’ll return for just to devour a couple more boards of these treats! We also ordered a cheese platter that was a bit slim pickings — the nibbles of cheese and olives were buried in leafy greens. Did I order a salad with this? But, I love this spot for the bar /counter facing the window. We sat, ate, sipped wine, watched peeps passing by, and decided we’d be back for more. It’s a great casual spot with an interesting décor of vintage tins, signs and whatnot — all very eye-catching. Yes, this corner market for meeting to eat is a gem.

I can only vouch for the coffee and cakes here… And they don’t disappoint even the selection of savory scones they do are tasty, the feta one is great if your«in between meals»! The vibe of the place is chilled, always jazz or some r n b playing, not so much in the background but has a presence there and I feel it’s welcomed because the tunes are classics and up tempo. Two huge windows for checking out the talent on South William st, probably fit about 4 comfortably at each and behind you have a big butchers block table a few high tables and a couple of spine forming wooden seats scattered around some tables. If the sun is shining down take advantage of the seats outside and lap up what Dublin has to offer.

A great little addition to South William st, which is already buzzing with interesting places to eat. I am a fan of cheeses and charcuterie and this is one of the places with the most interesting choices. The wine is good. I’m sold. The atmosphere is pleasant and cosy, and the rest of the menu looks delicious. I tried the roasted beetroot salad, amazing. I cannot wait to try their lunch menu.

A craving for a good tuna melt took us to Meet & Meat located on South William St, Dublin 2. Have to be honest I’ve walked by here anytime I’ve been heading for Fallon & Byrne and not given it much thought but a quick search on Unilocal for a good tuna melt suggested here and after checking their menus online we made our way into the city centre. The menu is up on a chalkboard above their sandwiches and pie display. If you’re interested the Hot Sandwich of the day was pork with an apple chutney. I chose the roast chicken & stuffing and he went for the tuna melt that brought us here! While we waited for the food to be brought over I took some photos of the surroundings. The ceiling is high and exposed. The lighting is industrial but it’s not harsh. In fact it felt quite cosy! Then the food arrived and there was no conversation out of either of us! The rotisserie chicken is perfectly juicy. The garlic and stuffing don’t overpower the flavour so the chicken remains the star of the show. The tuna melt was packed with filling and he said it was really good. The sandwiches are exactly how they’re described on the menu but that doesn’t begin to tell you that you can get a bloody good sandwich here!

Very tasty if limited menu. My wife & I both had the Chicken & stuffing sandwich. Although a little dry for my linking it was very tasty. Service was fast & friendly.

Best tuna melt ever. No skimping on the filling here as it was loaded with tuna and melted cheesy goodness. Great place to people watch while you munch your way through your sandwich. Walked oast here so many times and glad I stopped by.

I’ve passed by this place a few times and have always been curious enough to mark it down on my ‘to go and try’ list, so I went today. I loved the atmosphere… yes, like a French bistro with the small tables, cute decorations, almost dark feel to the place even though there are lots of windows. There is a great display of the sandwiches on offer plus daily specials written on little blackboards. I had the cajun chicken because it came with all sorts of lovely-ness; crispy bacon, avocado and there was a little bit of spice. And there were plenty of other options to choose from, including the hot sandwich(meatballs and mozzarella), savoury pies, beef stew, apple and parsnip soup. Definitely worth going back for…

If it’s possible to have a sandwich addiction, I have it with the Porchetta sandwich in Meet & Meat. As the word gets out, you have to be crafty and time your visit when there’s still some left. After 3 and you haven’t a hope. The place itself is warm and cosy and the staff are only gas. Can’t get enough.

We dropped by here on a Friday evening and there was still seats left, yay! It was our first time but I think the staff, although lovely, just weren’t with it that night. They kept charging a but forgetting or orders of Food and drink throughout the entire evening :( Flat bread was good when it finally came as well as the meat and cheese platter. The platter was more food a size for just two people. They mentioned they have a new cocktail menu now…

Well this is a surprise. Who knew how cosy this place is inside? It feels a little like a Parisian café inside(or how I imagine a Parisian café to be) All dark wood, interesting music, artfully placed baked goods looking so good they could be fake, nice art on the walls, dim atmospheric lighting. And it’s big, much bigger than I thought. The best seat has to be on the tall stools looking out the window on South William St though. Perfect people-watching. As for the food, I got myself a tuna melt for 7 eurits and it was delish. The bread was malted and fluffy and sooo good and the filling was flavoursome and packed. The staff were REALLY friendly — the guy at the till was full of the chats, so helpful and happy, he really sold the place to me and definitely made me want to return.

I called by meet and meat, to catch up with a friend; we shared a charcuterie board and a beetroot and goats cheese salad and a few glasses of wine. Service was prompt and friendly, we got a nice quiet table. Food was tasty and service was prompt; food was good and fresh. All in all we had a lovely time; and the evening was around fourth euro. The only star lost was due to confusion over the selection of desserts available; and the fact these clearly came from a box onto the plate. Standard enough practice, but not great that it be so obvious. May well stop by again!

On a nice day, it is a brilliant people-watching spot, and nobody can take that away from them. Sit out there, order a bottle of wine, and just watch the world go by. Food-wise, it’s inconsistent. The presentation is lovely, but cheese and meat platter seemed to be a different size both times we went and the bread served with it was stale. I suppose I’m also being particularly harsh with this because throwing cold cuts & cheeses on a board with bread doesn’t exactly require Michelin-star chef precision… I expect them to get this dish right! The goat’s cheese salad was nice but quite small. Next time, I will try their sandwiches!

Great tasting food, had the Sticky Ham & Egg sandwich! Very tasty! The Lentil & Spinach soup is great, a must try. The staff was super friendly… A worth while stop if near Trinity College and need a quick bite.

I have walked past Meet and Meat dozens of times thinking it looked brilliant and would have been top of the list before I stopped eating meat. Out of curiosity I finally popped in today and saw the veggie option. Delighted! The bread was light warm and crispy and the filling was so fresh. It was quite a big sambo but I finished it all. Will definitely go back! Maybe this week!

Bread overload. I love bread. I am a carbovore. But I don’t like sandwiches that are 80% bread and 20% filler. The filler(tuna melt) was good after I cut all the crust off and peeled the top slice of bread off to make my own«open face» sandwich. Even after the bread removal, I still was left with enough to feed a dozen pigeons! It was a lovely granary homemade bread but excessive due to size and thickness of slices. I asked if I could get this on a single ciabatta roll but they said«sandwiches are pre made». I also saw a Rustic Reuben on the menu WITHOUT sauerkraut(crime), and another sandwich with sauerkraut. When I asked if I could have the Reuben with sauerkraut– no! All sandwiches are pre made! Scoring 2 on my sandwich and the«pre made» thing.

Just wanted to update my last, less-desirable review for the fine people over at Meet and Meat I WASWRONG, I WASSOVERYVERYWRONG!!! .well I wasn’t actually, I still stand my rating of that awful falafel wrap. But today I went for the«Meat of The Sea» sandwich and… Ohboy… OhhhhhhBOY. This was really something else. Warm and soft in all the right places(mozzerella), cold and fresh in all the right places(tuna); it totally satisfied my lunchtime cravings. My friend also got the chicken roll and said it was«the best» he had ever had, so there you go –gowon Meet&Meat!

The place was undecidedly empty and cold that Sunday afternoon where cafes around them were teeming with people. We went ahead and ordered anyway… Sambos were lovely, but nothing to write home about — we got the porchetta and beef brisket ones, which arrived with zero garnish, not a few token salad leaves or a handful of crisps. Just a sandwich cut in half on a plate… mind you, we were paying € 8 for each. Service was pretty off too. No greetings through the door and I had to make the first move, asking whether we order upfront or at the tables. No ice available(c’mon you serve wine and all!) and plates served(or plopped) on tables without asking which sambo is for whom. I guess they cater better to the weekday grab-and-go lunch crowd, and less suited to the leisurely weekend café lounger. But given the plethora of(better) choices available on South William St, this will be my first and last visit.

I was really looking forward to stopping in here. I’ve seen it around for the past few weeks and thought it looked really cool from the outside. Totally love the décor and the ambiance of the place. All of the staff was very personable and very helpful. As I was reading the board of sandwiches I couldn’t decide which option to have. I love falafel and was so excited to see that they offered it, I knew I had to have it. When the falafel wrap came out I was a bit disappointed at first site. It said it was stuffed with cabbage, peppers, hummus and a bunch more. The wrap looked quite saggy and sad, not as plump as I had hoped. Thinking you can’t judge a book by his cover, I bit in. I have to say I was extremely disappointed. The only thing I could taste was something similar to pickled cabbage which was tart and bitter. There were only 2 or 3 falafel balls in there and when I got to them they were dry and hard to swallow. Thank goodness I had a nice coffee to wash it all down. I did take home a chicken and stuffing sandwich for the other half and he said it was lovely but I was not at all impressed with my selcetion. I think I might stop in again for a coffee, but I think I will pass on sandwiches and wraps!
