M&S mostly deals in better quality ready made food. You can get some deals and some things are reasonable. If, like me, you’re a pretty crap cook, it is the place to buy stuff when you’re cooking for guests! They also have the now legendary dine in for 2 deal for 12.50 on a regular basis. They also do nice salads and lunchy stuff… if only I could actually afford to shop there!

In light of the lack of money due to raised taxes — thank you corrupt government. That aside I tend to start the day with porridge and try to cook my own dinner to save cash. Lunch is another issue, sandwiches don’t stay too fresh for me and my homemade soup tends to run out by day 5… Roll on M & S. The one place with an excellent lunch selection. Great range of sandwiches and salads and healthy snacks. So the money I save being food frugal I spoil myself every once and a while here. Today it’s tomato & basil chicken with couscous and butternut squash and a side of veggie samosas — mmm mmm. Definitely the healthy and filling go to lunch spot for me.

M&S is great for produce, wine and for their selection of packaged salads/soups/pastas. I like that several of them are vegetarian or vegan, and that they are clearly marked. Also, as other people have already said — M&S always smells like freshly baked bread and cookies! You may want to avoid this place directly after work if you can — it can be a bit mental!

This foodhall is so neat! I really wish they had one of these in the States. They have so many ready-made goodies such as cakes, cookies, etc. and they are sure tasty! If you’re from the States, I’d say it’s a step above Trader Joe’s but a step below Dean & Deluca. It’s a great place for food souvenirs to take home. I brought some cookies and candy and they were a hit with my family.

I love me some Marks and Spencer, and this one in Jervis is super handy. I went here at the weekend and picked up some of their make at home cookie mix — it’s basically a DIY version of their amazing cookies. They are what smells so divine when you walk through the bakery dept. Now I know it’s totally cheating and not really baking when you simply pour the mixture into a bow, add some butter and 2 teaspoons of water, but I love the fact that I could take them straight out of the oven and shove them in my gob while still warm. So novelty! The pack makes about 6 and you could totally fob them off as your own… I did! They have a great fruit and veg section too. Definitely a great place for a food shop!

Marks & Spencer’s Food Hall makes any inept homemaker look like Martha Stewart. This place is great place to shop if you’re having a dinner party and you want to impress your friends, Attached to the Jervis Centre, the most delicious smell of bread waffles in and out of M & S’s doors. Baked goods are not the only treats you can find in here. It specializes in all gourmet food: wines, cheeses, sandwiches, you name it. It stocks a great selection of pasta and green salads too. This particular shop attracts a lot of office workers who failed to bring a pack lunch to work. For some reason, older single people also love doing their food shopping here, perhaps because they have more disposable income. Most Dubs associate M & S’s Foodhall with snobs, the idea being that people with more expensive tastes think they’re better than other(Tesco or Dunnes) shoppers. I don’t know if this is true. I know a lot of average people who occasionally buy luxury items here.
